I had my 2017 RR stolen with the keyless method. The tracker worked for 30minutes.Quote from JLR Tracking centre "They probably broke off the antenna" The JLR subscription is a complete waste of money.I have had a tracker fitted ,Ghost system, keys in faraday box and a steering lock. Swinton who I claimed from declined to cover new car ,Churchill on line were reasonably priced.

OK
consumer rights or is it Joke rights!
well they took all the details and said it will be passed to trading standards but they probably won't be in contact with me but may approach the insurers i named. I thought they would do a bit more but I've dropped a line to Good Morning Britain and have tweeted martin lewis but the tweet probably will never answered.
I'm on the hunt who else to contact as i think this could affect 1000's or even 100's of 1000's

Ive just checked my policy documents. The only mention of 'theft' relates to my excess and there is no mention of tracker, anywhere. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

Have a look at where it says what's covered and what's not in this churchill one it says theft is not covered if they insisted on a tracker.
I have spoke to the financial ombudsman and they say if they refused to pay out under the circumstances they would inform the insurance company they should pay especially if it's only in terms and conditions. They also said the insurance company will tell you to read all documents to check you have the cover required but I should contact the FCA and tell them as soon as possible. my mission continues

Well well well.

In the policy it has a section telling you to read another booklet called 'Extra Conditions"... Lo and behold..

3. Active tracker and subscription
If your vehicle is stolen, we will only pay your claim if it is fitted with a functional tracker with an active
network subscription

told you sneaky aren't they I have just been talking to FCA on 08001116768 and logged a complaint which they are shocked this hasn't been picked up before.
any people who would like to complain it would help as the more people tell them the stronger the case.i bet you never got asked if you have one either

Nope, don't think so. If I was asked, I'd have said no. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

18MY-onwards (I think) have Ultra Wideband keys for which the signal supposedly can’t be intercepted and boosted, rather than the “sleeping” keys.

I really wouldn't trust anything Land Rover say about security.

I've just checked my policy documents from Churchill and, whilst it does indeed say theft is not covered if you aren't using a tracking device, it also clearly states "If we need you to use a tracking device, you can see this under ‘Endorsements’ in
your car insurance details" Can't find any reference in my policy document to it and they haven't told me I need one!

In addition, because I never want to use an insurance company who insist on a tracker (it only protects THEM from the loss) I always declare in the initial quote that the car doesn't have a tracker fitted so I'm always up-front about it.

Here's a thought.........does anyone know if any of the companies that provide tracking systems and subscriptions are owned by any of the insurers? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Well I can assure you Churchill was the one I bought the insurance off and it only became apparent when I tried to claim the multi car discount. They took it to the underwriter and they said all Range Rovers must have a tracker or they are not covered for theft. I would tell you to phone them but when you know you’re not covered then what? I promise you they will tell you you must have one. I spent about half a hour again talking to their underwriters today after over a hour yesterday to customer services.

The reality is that they’re desirable to thieves, whatever the precautions.

Good independent info here, (especially if you dont believe JLR Rolling with laughter ), and especially the 2nd link, fortunately mine has wide band, but even so, the first thing I did on driving it off the forecourt was to disable keyless technology. Why would you put your car at extra risk? even if you have WB. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue
