Netherlands 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black

After my daughter did a three exit power slide around a roundabout in her BMW E30 my wife is not a bit scared in her BMW M2 Competition. We took a test drive in a Polestar 2 and were well impressed, so much so that we placed an order the next day. But then they annoyed me, the online system at ordering said January for Delivery, and quietly without notification they changed it to April Sad So I cancelled the order, I don't like those kind of tricks.

We are still interested and seeing if there is a preconfigured one popping up to our liking. In the mean time my wife drives my supercharged....

Having UK Power Networks do a site survey next week to upgrade our house to 3 Phase...And then will get an Andersen EV mode 3 22Kw charger installed at home. It is clear where the future is going.

Once the new RR has a full EV option I'll place an order on one of those. Might arrive by 2029 Rolling with laughter

Black dog - I was reading up on home charging. There seemed to be a consensus that currently 22kw AC charging was a bit pojntless at phome.

Once the maths was done then so long as you can charge at 7KW that would be ample for overnight charging, the cost of installing 3 phase to most properties would be several grand, and as currently most cars won’t charge at 22kw AC in any case and the best you would get would be 11kw then the gains seemed small when weighed against the cost. I would definitely check a Polestar has the ability to charge at 22Kw before pulling the trigger on 3 phase. As far as I’ve seen so far it has an 11kw onboard charger.

Also bear in mind to get the best out of the 3phase supply you should really fit a new 3 phase distribution board, I’m sure it can be done without but the best and safest way to make the most of all the juice is a new DB, which won’t be cheap!

Will have to keep an eye on the miles Stan, at the mo it’s doing about the expected 240-250 miles per charge, but that should improve when I switch it off winter mode and battery conditions and the weather improves. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Sure not all today can. The Polestar 2 for my wife is capped at 11kW indeed. Still more than 7kW…

There are several that can do 22kW already. And when you have multiple EV or guests than it’s quite nice for them as well to top up as quickly as they can.

I’m a firm believer in doing things right the first time around. So if I’m getting the Andersen installed now I may as well have it operate to its maximum value. M

Money, meh. Besides it also adds value to your home to have a nice looking and proper setup.

All true. Pays your money etc.

For me when it comes to time to upgrade (sometime in the future) I’m pretty fortunate as when we built the house we made sure we had a network main laid into the drive. And ducted. So if needed I’ve just got to dig a hole and thread the cable, so Western powers bill should be reasonable…… as we have an external meter box that will also need to be cut out and a new 3 phase one put in as well….. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It's a very noticeable difference on the Zoe. Probably 25%. But that's using heater demist etc. The pre-heat option is really nice - get the car warm without using any battery.

Our tariff works out to just over 1p/mile for 4 hours through the night. We can get 50% charge on a 7kW charger from that. Equates to about 100miles in normal use. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Not many cars out there that fit that bill..!!

Hi Haylands, you didn't consider a P300e Disco Sport or Evogue, or a used I-Pace ?

I wanted to keep the qualities of a Land Rover and add in som EV-ability in the mix.

Quite happy with my P400e. Sometimes I go further then the 25 miles EV range,
but overall fuel consumption ends ludicrously low, so I'm not bothered.

For us the car is a 'one-fits-all' as we also want to go to Portugal with it, so have
stress free Range included. Not to many charging points in France and Spain,
not to speak of almost none in Portugal !

No breakdowns, and have saved £150 vs SWMBO driving the Fiat to take no.2 to school and back every day! 1100 miles in a fortnight almost entirely on school runs. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

7KW Home charger now up and running. Went for a Rolec one installed by me and our work Spark, no cost advantage really, but meant that we could fish and hide the cables, so the install is seamless, no extra CU boxes or bits of armoured cable surface mounted to the outside of the house. Nice easy control app and will happily put enough in that we can plug it in once every couple of days.

Now we are in school holiday mode, and Xmas break means it won’t want charging for a week or so!

Disco, and Fattie also both brimmed.

Bring on the Xmas fuel shortages.🤔 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

And we are back with a Polestar. Every day I was updating the preconfigured inventory and bingo a spec that we liked came up. Quickly bought online and will be delivered in March. A pearl white dual engine with all the option packs and charcoal interior. Should be a nice carbon offset for my FFRR 5.0SC.

Sadly not going for 3Phase as the cost from UKPN was a quote where they clearly didn’t want the business. 8.5K for 1.5m of their work. And then I had to get a trench and ducting and new wall box made to our house. Absolutely ridiculous. Ah well, 7.5Kw charging it is.

Under normal circumstances theres no point in 3 phase for a domestic / destination wallbox, normally you have time eg overnight to charge.
