Dropped down to the shops, tried t turn the ignition off but key won’t turn! The engine is left running now outside my house what can I try? Help! L322 tdv8 2007

Disconnecting the battery -ve terminal should do it, it will disable the fuel solenoid and cut off fuel to the engine.

Didn’t work. Engine still running.

Tried pulling fuse 18 to see if it resets ignition switch, no good.

Is it just idling or revving?

Idling.

Is there any smoke from the exhaust? Could be running on engine oil from a leaking turbo.

You need to block the air inlets somehow to starve it of air.

No. It’s the ignition barrel. The key won’t turn anti-clockwise to switch the ignition off. It’s stuck somehow.

Fuse 25, 31 or 39

or fuel pump relay in rear fuse box? Pulling fuse or relay won't be instant. Need to clear fuel in the lines and filter. John

Pulled 31 and that’s stopped the engine. Phew!!
Wondering what to do next. Plenty of advice here on ignition not starting, not much on ignition not switching off.

Replaced the -ve battery terminal to try and start up.
Dash lights came on but key won’t turn in barrel. Disconnected battery for now.
Can’t be the immobiliser if key still stuck in II position can it?

Swap fuse 18 or check it’s clean. Mine had a similar issue and the fuse I used was not making a good contact. Glad fuse 31 worked

Is yours a key in dash or key down by the handbrake?
