Had a good poke around and there is very little movement in it, all the others are there so I’m confident it will be ok. The old bracket wasn’t doing much either given it’s condition.

If it came with one I’m not sure why they would have removed it, maybe LR have revised the design to prevent the issue Question Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Was the clip that was removed to hold the pipe from moving or was just a clip to hold the plastic sheave ?
Could they have not fitted a marine stainless clip ? So no more corrosion .
At least they found it.Or you found it, and problem solved.

Hi
I have a 2014 L405 with the exact same water leak. There are coolant pipes that run from the front to the rear.
I took mine to my local garage not the main dealer and after £2100 it was fixed. Big Cry

The parts LR096502 & LR085582 are relativity cheap £104 & £160. It was the £1440 labour that was the issue. The rear back end of the car had to be lowered for access. Shocked

It took four days but all back on the road again. The car as I mentioned was a 2014 with 97K miles.

Oh the joys of motoring Bow down

My point of the thread was to warn owners about the expense and difficulties in removing the rear cradle to replace these rear pipes! Mine happened @ 4yrs old and wasn’t covered under the JLR used car warranty scheme!

I think you were very lucky the bolts came out of the body! Many don’t! And when they don’t, they take the body mount threads with them! Steel bolt into an Aluminium body!

Just so all who read this later understand the risks in trying! 👍

I've done one of these, and if you do it the right way the job is not as hard as some might think.

The leak comes from corrosion in the pipes where the sleeve covers it:

Easiest way to fix seems to be to drop the fuel tank - which is not that hard of a job if you have a lift - rear prop off, exhaust off, some guarding off, then you have access to the tank. Drop the tank a bit and you have access to the connectors on the top:

You then have easy access to the pipes:

We just removed the old rubber hose, cut the aluminium pipe and used a longer piece of rubber hose over both aluminium pipe ends secured with jubilee clips - though there is a restrictor in the old pipe that needs to be moved over. Whole job took an afternoon and would get much quicker a second time. Current:

Don't shoot the messenger sir... I know not why they would not cover this? or indeed if i was being fed the correct information! Cheltenham Heritage MD were the dealership that told me i should ready myself for the bill if & when warrenty rejected it! They could have been feeding me a croc of Censored for all i know!

For me it was easy to remidy, so i did... The thread is to warn future owners etc etc etc sir Thumbs Up

Is it possible to see these pipes by removing the rear wheel and the plastic liners or do you need to remove the exhaust and fuel tank?

A quick heads up for all the 405 owners out there. I have found a water leak on my 2013/14 L405 AB and unusually its from in front of the UK drivers side REAR wheel! Im guessing they run to rear passengers heating? Maybe?

The black metal thing in these pics is the fuel tank protector.

Removing the very rusty metal securing tab/bracket, then the rubber coating i found it was leaking from a pinhole size hole/maybe a crack, maybe from the rusty bracket? 10mm away from the end where the rubber pipe/hose connects... JLR MD wanted nearly a grand to remove the rear subframe/cradle and replace (just that 18" aluminium pipe) Shocked Sniggering Thud

So, i simply replaced the rubber pipe/hose (on the right in the pics) with a piece 30mm longer and cut the ali pipe back 20mm so beyond the crack/pinhole and fitted the new/longer rubber pipe/hose... Happy days, no more leak!

For someone with no technical mind whatsoever ...

Where do you look to see this? And do you need to remove anything?

I've started getting the "low coolant" warning and this seems an obvious place to look.

That said, the car had it's oil cooler replaced before I bought it, so it could be leaking round there. What do I put here then?

I would start by topping up the coolant with the correct type, then monitor and fill for a week or so of normal driving. It’s possible that when the cooler was changed the system wasn’t bled properly and you are seeing the system bleed itself….. failing that start looking for the rear coolant pipe…..

To see it properly IIR you have to get under the car and look to the drivers side of the fuel tank. It’s between the tank and the body shell. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks for the tip.

Will top up this morning and see.

It’s off to the local Indy for something else on Tuesday. Have asked them to have an informed look too. What do I put here then?
