I test drove a D350 SE for an afternoon on various road types and it was very quiet. It had the standard sound system. MY23 D350 HSE

What was the standard Meridian like? Interesting to see other posts with compensation being offered as the JLR customer service advisor I spoke to categorically denied any would be offered. Perhaps a U turn if they have had so many complain/ cancel orders?

As I recall the Signature was a £4500 upgrade from the 3D Surround Sound system that was standard on the HSE (now downgraded).

Signature has the headrest speakers but crucially also microphones in the wheel arches to cancel some of the tyre noise
3DSurround, described as low noise cancelling probably has some cancelling of cabin noise but without the headrest speakers or tyre noise reduction.
Standard I suppose has none of this but in my experience the cabin size/shape has a dramatic effect on sound quality. I had a mid spec Meridian system in my Jag F-Type coupe and it really wasn't very good at all- same system in my iPace is really good. I imagine (hope!) even the standard system will sound very good in the huge FFRR cabin.

Agree with this Yousif. The 825W system in an Evoque sounds amazing in the smaller cabin environment where it was just about ‘alright’ in the L405. The 400W system in a cabin this size is a concern for an audiophile.

I am worried about this, my dealer doesn’t have a l460 with the standard system to let me listen to at the moment. That said the best system I had in a Land Rover was actually way back in my 2005 discovery 3 base spec with a Harmon Kardon system it just sounded great. Moving on through multiple new models with upgraded meridian systems they lacked the presence of that original base system. It’s definitely down how the cabin and the system suit each other. MY23 PHEV HSE

HELP needed..... so i have an AB on order now for over 13 months (still not even slotted). I ordered with the Meridian Surround and now downgraded to 3D. Am i right in thinking others have been offered £1200 compensation or have i mis read this?

I have asked the dealer (Hendy) who are denying all knowledge of any form of compensation from JLR etc?

You are correct Rich. Look on the previous page and I provided a copy of the information provided by my dealer. MY23 D350 HSE

If it helps at all, my L460 has meridian sound system and I find for most of my music I revert to standard stereo in audio settings. 3D meridian is too tinny and lacks bass.

The meridian just isn’t that great in the L460, I would t miss it. Our Velar has meridian and I find sound quality better in that vehicle than I do in this one. Maybe it’s an L460 thing?

Switching off 3D won’t replicate the standard system, as you’ve still got more speakers and presumably a different amp. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Hi all,

Not sure if anything has changed, but the Configurator now shows the different Meridian packs again, depending on which trim level you want. However, when selecting for instance the HSE, you can't upgrade the audio in the configurator as an option. A few days ago it still showed the base audio for all trim levels.

Not sure what this means for people waiting in the queue that just got informed about downgrades. Just wanted to point it out.

Note: the Sport configurator still shows the standard audio for all trim levels.

Cheers,
Friso

If you configure an Autobiography it is still showing 3d rather than signature audio, so no change unfortunately on the UK site.

Mmm, you are right 5.0, no Signature system on the AB. I think I got mistaken with the Sport which are all downgraded to base audio.

My bad! Thud Thumbs Up

I think it is unlikely to ever revert back to how it was. Even if they have enough parts, going forward it will be an option to upgrade rather than be standard again. It’s the way JLR have always worked, making things become optional during the life cycle of the vehicle that were once standard equipment to create stealth price increases.
