A rear airbag popped today from rubbing

Installed the aerosus bags and they inflated with almost no problems.

Rear right the bag wasn't folding as it should, instead the air had somehow forced the bag to one side of the plastic bottom and am guessing that caused it to rub against other components. Its actually a sport Sad

Not anymore, 4.4 TDV8 now Very Happy

Managed to get caught speeding by one of those infernal gantry cameras on the M62, 54 in a 40. Hope to get away with a speed awareness course but appear to be 1 mph above the threshold. 1st ticket in 19 years and only the 3rd in 43 years of driving Previous cars:

Had the front and rear diff oil changed. I don't think it's been changed since it left the factory. The oil was awful and looked like it was separating and smelled awful. Must admit, it seems to be driving a lot more smoother and quieter. Was having a slight drone which has now disappeared, think I changed it just in time.

Recently posted that after never trying the FBH in five years of ownership, it works perfectly Shocked

Major search undertaken and finally found the remote fob for the FBH, fitted batteries to the fob and tested the system remotely, it works like a dream, once again Shocked and Very Happy

Next plan today is to fit the spare wheel lifting / removal kit I purchased from 'Gentlemen of salvage' Kit is in good order, complete with the correct fasteners, just needed a good scrub. So hopefully no hernia, rupture and / or nosebleed when extracting the spare wheel now Big Cry Whistle

Dirty job.

Today I removed the inlet manifold and cleaned 140000 miles worth of oily sooty crud out, its amazing how the tary clag gets everwhere. EGR also cleaned out while it was off.

While I was at it I put 4 nice new silicone pipes on the manifolds. And replaced the squeaky auxiliary belt tensioner, its now nice and quiet.

Lovely day for it. Also own a 1976 Land Rover 101 3.5 V8.

Finally got around to changing the fuse for the 12v socket in the centre console, only a small an amount of blood spilled, but task achieved. Top tip, remove bottom panel under fuse the panel for easier (relatively) access as going through the from the dropped glove box was just impossible. Also cutting one side off the fuse puller to allow it to fit over the fuse helped greatly. Very satisfying having a working socket now though. 2013 SDV8 4.4 Vogue SE Aintree Green

New rear pads, disks and callipers

Picked her up from the menders for new discs, pads and rear callipers. I have been running the old jag for a week whilst the work was done, and it just doesn’t compare to the luxury of the RR

£500 well spent

Took the daughter and grandaughter out for the day, from Wrexham to Llandudno, Nice lunch in
a place called 'Fortes' then a walk around Llandudno and the pier, a bit rainy, but it did not spoil the day. A slow drive around the great Orme for the stunning views.
Then drove home via Conwy, Betws-y-coed through a lot of rain, simply wafting along through a lot standing water that had other cars swerving all over the place, my daughter's comment being 'as a passenger in this car it's such a nice place to be, and soooooo comfortable' even though the car is nearly 17 years old Very Happy Thumbs Up

Completed some maintenance to the tailgate:

- Replaced both lower tailgate straps. Left side no problem, right side rusted solid but eventually worked it loose and replaced.
- New Stabilus gas strut to lower tailgate
- New rear wiper
- LED reversing bulbs, a bit better than the originals. Kevin

Not today, but on Friday I traced the source of a new 'clonk' that had started from the rear suspension that morning to the n/s ARB droplink. Lower ball had popped out.

Note that I don't believe for one second that in the last couple of months and 3K miles the car that gained a clean MOT from the dealer on purchase has eaten a droplink to that extent. No way did that not have play beforehand. Offside wasn't much better so ordered two new TRW links.

Removing the old ones was not fun. Took me over an hour and a half to get them both out with access the way it is, loads of corrosion and quickly rounded flats on the ball side.

Refitted on Saturday morning after picking up the new links in 15mins, both sides done with the car on low-profile ramps in normal height, no need to even remove the wheels.

Also spent a little while freeing up both track rod ends and giving them a slight tweak to straighten the steering wheel up as it was off-centre. I'll have it fully aligned at some point but I'm letting it wear out the nasty Davanti tyres the previous owner fitted before I bother. Will give me a good excuse to have alignment done and new decent quality rubber at the same time.

Changing the rear droplinks has transformed the car. I hadn't realised there was any noise from the rear suspension, but it's dramatically quieter since doing them. General ride and handling is improved and I'm 100% certain the ride is better (and my rear seat passengers on Sunday remarked that they thought it was too, unprompted). I suspect the unnecessary and unexpected movement in the ball joints was doing 'things' to the VDS system that made it stiffen the shocks more than needed. The car also now sits *perfectly* level whereas before it was always about 10mm different across the axle. 2012 (L322) 4.4TDV8 Vogue SE, RSE, Fuji White over Arabica.

Went for a drive to the Elan Valley at Rhayader, crap weather, nice set of wheels to take for a ride though. It is good to just go for a drive every now and again.

Up cycled an old bed frame into a load space divider as Land Rover seem to think l460 owners won’t need one.
