Range Rover L405 wont start when engine is hot

hi there i am having problems with my range rover its a 2013 4.4 sdv8 starts and drives no problem could drive it all day without any issues but once its at temperature and you switch it off when you try to start it it just turns over and doesn't fire up temperature gages sitting just under half way if you leave it half an hour or so to cool down its starts and runs with no problem again until you switch it back off plugged it in no fault codes anybody know where to start looking thanks

I had exactly this on a Merc a few years ago, the Crank sensor was the culprit (fine when cool/cold, dead when hot).
I know nothing about RR’s though so might be spurious info for you.

Have you had it plugged into a diagnostic machine to see if any codes are stored? If not that would be your starting point. These are complicated beasts and you could waste £1000’s trying to guess the fault.

yes plugged it in nothing coming up and the data when running looks fine

was thinking down the lines of crank or cam sensor just to see if anybody else has had the same issue and its been something else

Monitor the engine rpm during cranking to confirm the status of the crank angle sensor. If no rpm then the crank angle sensor isn't working.

our snap on machine doesn't seem to give you rpm in the data for some reason al give it another go again tomorrow and see if its in another module
