I had exactly this on a Merc a few years ago, the Crank sensor was the culprit (fine when cool/cold, dead when hot).

Have you had it plugged into a diagnostic machine to see if any codes are stored? If not that would be your starting point. These are complicated beasts and you could waste £1000’s trying to guess the fault.

yes plugged it in nothing coming up and the data when running looks fine |

was thinking down the lines of crank or cam sensor just to see if anybody else has had the same issue and its been something else |

Monitor the engine rpm during cranking to confirm the status of the crank angle sensor. If no rpm then the crank angle sensor isn't working. |

our snap on machine doesn't seem to give you rpm in the data for some reason al give it another go again tomorrow and see if its in another module |
