Nobody wants to do anything slightly difficult by the looks of it. I will just keep plodding on till I find someone willing to get their hands dirty. I

Great idea Java Black, they seem to be quite enthusiastic, so it is booked in with them. Hopefully all will go well.

Thanks Silver Spanner, I have finally found someone brave enough to turn the bolts the correct way, so see if they can fit it!

Well, after all that Egdon Land Rover did a fantastic job, even marking the bolts to check for loosening. So at last I have a Range Rover that can tow.

I fitted my towbar myself on the driveway. I was in for a shock when the manual said 90 minute fitting time - more like 9 hours (doing a few hours here and there).

The job wasn't complex in any way and would most certainly be 2x quicker or more with 2 people when it comes to positioning bumper, exhaust hangers, crossbar etc. However, there are a lot of tasks to do which are what take the time.

In terms of additional work - the bolts holding the existing frame on the exhaust hanger were especially corroded. There is a welded nut. I did manage to free one with some heat however I had to remove the other exhaust bracket from the car, angle grind the welded nut off, and fit a new bolt. So expect a little labour for age related bits.

Just don't let the garage over-charge you. With a ramp and 2 people, even allowing for issues like the above, it shouldn't be more than 6 hours ish labour in total, 4 hours if no issues encountered. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
