Help needed with my IIDTool

Hi everyone

Is there anyone who lives near me (Spondon, Derby) who would be willing to meet to test my IIDTool?

Patrick at Gap said it would be good to have somebody plug their tool into my car and my tool into their car.

This should help to isolate the issue I have which is that my IIDTool will not communicate with my car.

Thanks

You could try a cheap OBDII reader to see if it's the OBD port? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Sorry, I should have said the port seems to be fine, my icarsoft and a cheap device work just fine.

But Patrick from GAP said their pins are smaller than most readers so checking with another iidtool would be a good idea

Mine was a bit hit and miss when I used to plug it directly into the OBD port, but has been 100% fine since I bought a short OBD extension cable off eBay.
It also gives me peace of mind that I am not wearing the socket plating on the car OBD by regularly plugging the GAP iid in and out.

That would work fine, but mine is a bit shorter.
Make sure it has got a 90’ connector on the plug end.
When you plug it in the plug holds the flap open out of the way of your foot and the excess cable easily pushes up behind the dash facia and along the tunnel so the socket is much easier to use and not in the way. Thumbs Up

I have been using an extension cable from the day I got the car due to the poor condition of the cars socket, but this finally gave up so I soldered a new connector in place. So its just my IIDTool giving problems.
But that has reminded me that I should check without the extension.

OK that was too much to hope for, it does not work in the new socket without the extension.

So still in need of help please

David
PS the car reports all sorts of errors like HDC inactive, Lost coms to gearbox etc, the sort of messages you get with a low battery. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

What are the voltages with the Icarsoft so you can rule out the battery? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

I had the Icarsoft LR V3 and it gave me errors like that when I plugged it in on 2 occasions !
The faults were not there until I plugged it in (just to make it clear)

I returned it to the Ebay seller and that was that.

I don't have an IID but you're welcome to plug yours into my car to see if the issue is still there - I'm working on Saturday Wink
