Further to the above, I have collected the car as the part wasn't immediatly available and they have other bookings - its booked back in for 10 days time.

It's a 1 hour job. The valve is just above the exhaust.

Thanks all for the advice - I don;t have access to Topix but did phone LR to ask them the service time for fitting the shut off valve..

Check you don’t have a vacuum leak, there are lots of small pipes connecting between the valve you describe and the vacuum pump located on the front N/S of the engine. There is also a pipe going from the O/S air filter box to the valve block that will cause issues if leaking or disconnected.

I would totally expect to still have to pay, because at the end of the day, they have done the work, and engines are complex things - it's not necessarily straightforward to diagnose.

I'm done... I emailed the garage with a concern that even LR Topix suggests the job to replace the shut off valve... their response...

Has the COSV been checked that it is not seized? I presume it's the same valve and location on the 405 as the L322. |
