Hmmm….my main 12v is under the boot floor and the auxiliary is behind the right side panel further forwards (closer to the seat backs). Perhaps yanking isn’t the right method for my car? 2025 P550e AB

start the 'yank' on the bit nearest the seats then work your way along to the tailgate... ... - .- -.

Ummmm, I do mine the other way, it’s easy to get your fingers up inside that vent/grille thingy & pull down & out, there are 3 clips along the top edge, see WM manual:

Try to pull close to where the clips are, so as not to do any damage, they do take a fair heave, try not to worry about it.

I wish I had bought an Exide battery - I bought a Bosch battery for my auxiliary battery, as it has a longer warranty, but the breather pipe location interferes with the bracket, which is really annoying.

When I replaced my battery. I drilled a hole in the clamp bar. Shown on page 4 of this thread.

I was not happy at first but when I next need to replace the battery. I am not limited. SDV8 AB MY 2020

So, some models have a capacitor instead of a 2nd battery?

I have a V6SC 2019 HSE.

On the right side of cargo there’s an indent where the battery is on older models.

Anyone have a pic where they’re located on 2018+?

I pulled the panel. Clearly it had never been removed because, damn, those clips were tight! Really had to yank it.

No secondary battery on my car.

My MY17 V6 has stop-start but no aux battery or capacitor!
I turned stop-start off permanently, it’s a stupid idea, it wears out the battery, the starter motor, and significant engine wear happens during starting, why anyone would want it mystifies me…

I wonder, when JLR introduced stop-start, did they beef up the starter motor components, or are the pre and post motors gears the same old thing? Knowing JLR bless them, I suspect I can guess the answer! Laughing “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

I think my battery or batteries are on their way out. On some brand of cars with dual batteries, they should be removed and replaced in a particular order, is that not the case with the L405?

Cheers

I was not aware of any articular being required when I replaced both of mine. I did them both at the same time and if I remember correctly I did the RHS one first and the one under the spare wheel second. Connected all up and told car about new batteries and all was good.
The only thing that I didn't realise was that disconnecting the batteries triggered my tracker and I got a phone call asking me if I could still see my car, which was in front of me with most of the boot in bits! Rolling with laughter _______________________________________________
