Replacing batteries - supplier and type

Evening all

I have a 2016 Autobiography 4.4sdv8 with the 2 battery system. I’m starting to get various spurious low voltage messages and it’s also having an effect on the security tracker electronics.

So, I’m wanting to change both batteries at the same time, does anyone have any advice as to which batteries to install and which supplier to use to purchase the batteries from.

Is it a simple diy job - I have an obd reader that will register the new batteries.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Best regards

All sorted Alistair….ordered both batteries from Tayna so should have them delivered next Tuesday/Wednesday 🤞

One final question, do both batteries need to be registered or just the main one?

You should register both batteries. _______________________________________________

A few final points....maybe....but wondered if someone can help me.

I have 2 new batteries to fit and realise the batteries need to be registered so what happens and how does the reset tool know which battery has been changed - or in my case, that both batteries are being changed? Is this all done within the BMS?

I've checked out a number of posts now and have picked up I need to let the car de-energise before disconnecting the batteries

Any further advice appreciated before I change the batteries over this weekend....

Best regards

Depends on the reset tool that you use. I have a couple but using the iCarSoft LR v3 it knows there are 2 batteries and so you are able to reset each one individually. _______________________________________________

Thanks. I have the LRV2.0 but checking with icarsoft as to what my version will do. It’s supposed to cover my year so once I find out I’ll let you know. L405 2016 4.4SDV8 Autobiography Corris Grey/Pimento - Current

Can you explain the process you went through please as icarsoft have told me the V3.0 doesn’t support the 2 battery setup/registration? I was hoping the V3.0 would be able to do it but I must be missing something somewhere…..any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to get my batteries swapped out soon.

This should help you

https://www.roverparts.com/Instructions/ic...kZyVms47Vt

Look at page 27 regards BMS

I updated my software on mine a while back and I now get the option of which battery to reset. The manual I refer to above only shows the option of 1 but it should just be an option on the main screen screen once you have verified your VIN.

Hi
I updated the V3 I’ve just bought hoping to do both batteries. As you mention the instructions aren’t clear. I’m just wary starting the change over and getting stuck if both batteries arent registered. I guess from what you are saying the unit recognises when either battery is changed and does the registration according to which battery needs registering. Anything else you suggest appreciated.
Best regards

I actually have the choice of battery on my screen. I would take a picture but I am at work so cant do that at this time. To be honest there is always an argument as to whether you really need to register a new battery at all because the car will, overtime, work it out itself. I believe the whole reset system is to really prevent the car from overcharging until it works out a new battery has been added.
Personally I always do the reset for peace of mind. If you only 1 option in your BMS then I would just go with that. Thumbs Up _______________________________________________
