Driver Heated/Cooled Seat

Hi guys,

My heating and cooling function on the driver seat has decided to give up today. The lights still work on the dial but I cannot hear any fans running when on cool and sure cannot feel any heat when on hot.

Usually you hear the relay click when it engages either hot or cold but cannot hear that either.

Has anyone had this before. If so what was the fix? Hopefully just a relay/fuse not the actual element and fan itself.

Thanks

It’s not a difficult job to do, the YouTube tutorials are a good place to start. I couldn’t imagine being without my cooled seats now, especially in this weather.

Be prepared for your ducting to be cracked, so when you do pull the Peltier unit and ducting out of the back of the seat, you’ve got the correct means to repair it.

I used fibreglass, however, the ducting material isn’t particularly conducive to letting anything stick to it, such as glues, fibreglass resin etc although fabric tape or gorilla tape should do the job.

The main reason for cracking is the lip of the metal bar that runs across the back of the seat impacting on the ducting. You can prevent this by bending the lip out with pliers, or if you have super strong grip as i seemed to have on the day, your fingers.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks chaps.

Did some fault finding with OBD tool. The cooled element is actually still working only on the base but think that’s normal isn’t it? The heated part worked on the base for all of 30 seconds. See the temperature increase on the OBD tool. Then goes into fault mode. Back temperature didn’t seem to move.

Will try and source a part soon and pull the seat apart this weekend.

After this I think the for sale sign will be going on! Getting a little expensive now to do the little mileage I do nowadays.
