Hi I have just bought a MY19 RR AB with DSS but I can’t seem to get them to work. On this model year the on/off button is activated on the screen rather than the physical button on previous models. Maybe unplugged?
They could have been sticking and previous owner just unplugged them. Be worth a look.

Hi, Have you checked the fuse's right side rear? The information screen has an on/off button.
You could try putting the car into `N` by turning off the ignition, turning the ignition `on` then trying to deploy, not starting the car. 2017 SDV8 4.4 silicon silver AB

Thanks Tinman, I tried the put it in neutral etc but it sadly didn’t work. I found the fuses in the right hand side of the boot but how do you get to them? I have taken a picture.

Hi, it's in the sidewall right side you have to lever it out from the top, mine is number 39, 30amp green.
The module is located in the spare wheel area after you take the cover from under the wheel's left side, it's in the same bracket as the rear seat module.

Look underneath at the motor end of the step and you should see the big electrical plug sir... Is it plugged in?

So back from holiday-

I checked to see that the steps are plugged in and they are. So not sure what to do next?

Also now had the dreaded “ok to drive with caution- restricted performance”! Checked all the hoses I can see and nothing obvious. Perhaps software like my previous one?

I know this is a few years old, but can you reply with what the dealer did to resolve? Did they have to re-add the deployable steps module via programming? 2023 L460 Range Rover SE P400

The dealer did a software update on the side steps and the restricted performance was down to the turbo actuator that was replaced under warranty. Since then I get the occasional problem with the steps sticking out on the drivers side but a good power washing seems to resolve this and they go back to normal. 2019 Autobiography SDV8 Byron blue/black - current

To close the loop in this, exact same problem as described by OP. When the previous owner took it in for service at the dealer in his city, they removed the deployable steps programming by accident. My local main dealer got me sorted and reprogrammed free of charge, which thoroughly surprised me. 2023 L460 Range Rover SE P400
