Hi All, I’m new to range rovers and this site 😊

I have recently purchased Range Rover vogue 2017 and the steering column gaiter is split and need replacing. Can someone clarify a few things for me please.

1) Is DA3689 – the correct gaiter for my car?
2) Is LR033647 or LR033648 – the correct complete unit?
3) Is 1x LR033655 & 1x QYG500090 – the correct steering column bolts required if I replace 1) or 2) ?

I understand this can be done easily, do you need to do any steering or wheel alignment adjustments afterwards?

no alignment adjustments needed and it is a 10 minute job, the shaft pushes back up inside the steering column to give you clearance to fit the new bit ... ... - .- -.

Revisting this thread again because, guess what? Yup!

Split again!

Fortunately, this time I had a complete refurbished one “in stock” complete with new bolts, so had it sorted in about 15mins.
The rubber bellows are now available on AE cheaply, and IMHO are the same quality as the JLR ones, (not that that says a lot). The hard bit is getting the new rubber over the joint, once you have cut the old bellows off. I made a tool from the cut-off tip of a CV Joint heavy plastic cone, (the kind you use to replace CVJ bellows) and with some silicone grease, was with some effort, able to get the boot over cone and joint, then remove the cone through the hole at the opposite end. This is NOT easy and requires persistence, but saves a fortune.
After installing the “new” joint back on the car, I promptly cleaned & fitted a new boot (also in stock ) to the original one, ready for 2027

If anyone’s interested, I can post a pic & dimensions of the “tool” you need to do it.
First time cost about £50, then £20 each time. V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

checked mine and its got a split in it so going to have mine to do ............have found this (DA3689)
so think im going to use this

Hi Will, good luck, and be warned:

It’s a total b*tch to get the new rubber over the joint, as it has to stretch the hole from ca. 25mm diameter to over 50mm,, this is almost impossible without using a suitable lubricated cone, or you will tear the rubber.

The ones on eBay are twice the price (£40) as AE (£20) however identical.

The difference seems to be the sellers profit margin. V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

yea lots of silican lub i’ve got a cone of sorts so fingers crossed and af are the same price as everywhere else

Love this place, mine is also split, it looks a mission to get at but at least you can see it.
I will try my warranty!

Wow, V8! -it’s much easier to do in off-road height (to straighten the joint) standing on a small box or whatever on the V6. The hardest part is then replacing the rubber bit, and of course not dropping the bolts 😁. Always use new screws with encapsulated locking compound, -it is the steering after all. V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!
