front airbag burst whilst on two post ramp

Hi all

Had my FFRR on my two post ramp at weekend doing propshaft and rear brakes, first time I have actually lifter it to do work on it. I stuck suspension in off road height and lifted it and started working on rear brakes (shoes, pads and discs and to change rear prop shaft. Got that all done and lowered it off ramp and noticed front passenger side had dropped. The missus mentioned that when she walked past it on ramp she heard a release of air but didnt mention it till later.

Got some soapy water but can actually feel and hear leaking from bottom of bag so think it must have perished when extended on ramp.

So some queries to the group mind

1)Is it actually OK to lift them on two post ramp and have I just been unlucky and strut was probably on way out anyway
2)do I change both fronts now given the other is probably in similar condition, they both look ok
3) How much of a pain are they to do?
4) Whats recommended place to buy and what make and cost, see quite a few variables. Think mine must be dynamic suspension also as there are wiring connectors at top.
5)I am sure I have seeing something previously about rebuilding strut with new bags which is cheaper, anybody got link to that? or am I better just changing for new whole struts

As always, many thanks in advance for any help

They are absolutely fine to lift on a 2 post lift. No different to jacking up and lifting a wheel off the ground

I've even seen them blow in the car park while sat stationary, and engine off Shocked

If finances allow, do them in pairs. If 1 has gone, the other will be in a similar condition

Fine, if the hub bolts are not seized...

Fit OE units if possible. Cheap parts are a bit Censored

If you are paying labour to replace the bags, if works out at a similar cost to fitting a new complete unit. If you are doing the work yourself, it is cheaper (no labour cost, obviously)
