Heater fan not starting

I have had several instances of a non-running heater fan after starting the car. Usually it starts by itself after a while, but I have been able to start it by hitting the top of the dashboard also. I have searched this forum and I see that often there is a problem with a resistor when people have non-start heater fan, but is it possible that this resistor will start working when I hit the dasboard? 2006 Supercharged

Thank you! I have ordered a Replacement for the FSR.

And I am sorry for asking a question that has been asked so many times before, when I searched with the word FSR the information was there… 2006 Supercharged

A update regarding FSR… In june I replaced the FSR with a part bought from a general parts Company in Norway. Two months later the fan stopped working again. I read on this forum that the cheap EBay parts dont last, so I ordered a original Land Rover part from Maltings 4x4. It came in a proper Land Rover box so I guess it is the real thing. But when I removed the «cheap» one it turns out that they both are similar BMW parts. So I just paid 5x more for the same part! I just hope the expensive one will last longer…

It happened again!

This morning the fan did not start. Could there be somthing wrong in the system that kills the FSR?

Both units I have tried were the same type, Sitonic/Valeo, are there recommendations for other Brands that may be better?

Thank you! Will a partially seized fan motor destroy the FSR? 2006 Supercharged

yes, the blower motor fan assembly has two circular rotating fins ( blades ) , they keep sticking after a while, poor design by JLR, and the FSR overloads and fails time after time - it took me and a friend all day to remove the dashboard and install a new one, been perfect ever since !

Thank you for the information about the sticky heater motor. Today we fitted a new FSR, and the fan did not work still. I removes the FSR and moved the fan blandes with a screwdriver. I were able to move the fan, but not easy. I guess this is a sign that the fan needs to be changed, so I will order a new one. I have unplugged the FSR to keep it from overheating and dying.

Just a thought, the connector for the FSR is somewhat reachable, could it be possible to jump two pins to get the fan to run full speed or something? I am thinking as a band aid to get home when in need. And of course when the FSR has failed, not the fan. 2006 Supercharged
