I tried a few of the suggestions and ended up with isobutyl alcohol and QTips as described in one of the threads. A bit time consuming and fiddly but well worth the effort. A big improvement.
 I'm now a Regeneration trainee nerd--lol

Oh Well. Back to the drawing board. I can envisage a nightmare if I ever run the battery flat. of course I could give it a jump from the bonnet charging point

I'm sure there is a thread on this somewhere. There's an interlock that can be taped back to stop it engaging as a temporary fix. Sorry I can't be more specific but it's there somewhere.

Less than a week for mine and I get the 'Please start engine' message. Also the tailgate won't open. It has never failed to start......yet and it has both brand new batteries.
