Hi,

Anyone else using this setup? I am amazed at what it can do, apart from giving my instantaneous and trip mpg (the thing I missed when I traded from my 2010), it does 0-60 timings, 1/4 mile, rough HP etc etc. More dials than you could imagne and readouts. Graphing, map as you go, and it has various plugins.

Totally configurable and portable between vehicles.

This morning on the drive to work I tried command shift to keep it in the highest gear possible (6th), gained 1mpg over the same journey in D (letting the car decide the gear).

Anyway - the upshot - if you are techno geek and have a large phone (HTC One-X, Galaxy Note) or an android tabled - get one!

I have mine mounted using a cup holder suction mount(£5 bay of E), and a HTC One-X suction holder (£1.99) - places the phone to the front left of the gearshift. Land Rover Addict

they do sound pretty good neil, but i seem to recall reading somewhere that if you leave the bluetooth unit in the obd port permanently, it 'might' drain the battery.. ... - .- -.

Hi Stan,

Easy enough to remove, but once the car is off the little device is unavailable, which to me means it's off. However, I don't leave it in all the time - it stows nicely under the top of the cubby on the left  Land Rover Addict

Last night did a standing start with DSC on - 0-60 9.1s 1/4m 17.1, 310hp at 3650rpm.

Quite a giggle. I'm sure I could get that down Not bad for a 3 ton oil burner tbh. Land Rover Addict

Regarding draining battery, the obd port does have a permanent supply, it will power my diagnostic unit with the ignition off.

So I guess it's down to each device design and whether it will drain battery.

Does torque show coolant temp

What about transmission temp? V8 or else ...

Torque shows coolant temp. I'll have a look to see if has the transmission temp. Basically if the PID's are there for it, it will read it.

By the way, has anyone noticed that the OBD port cover has three pins in it that sit in the port when it's closed? I wonder if that is to shut off the supply? Land Rover Addict

when closed, the port cover does indeed switch off the supply neil..  ... - .- -.

from memory, there have been a few members on the forum that have had battery drains and it was down to the obd port cover being open.... ... - .- -.

Hmmmm interesting. Bear in mind that the OBD cover on the 2007MY -> interferes with the accelerator (well your foot at least!) so I'm guessing these were pre 2007 vehicles (or people with tiny feet!). I wonder why the RR needs to be told to shut it down when other cars do not. Land Rover Addict

Did the OBD module not get in the way of your accelerator foot? Also how did you launch your FFRR? I can't decide if I just floor it and hope the auto-handbrake lets go, or try using the old footbrake + accelerator trick (american style).

I just floored it. Will have another play again on a better road.

As for the unit - the only thing that interferes is the cover for the OBD port, so either tape it up (i.e. open it all the way and back on itself), or take it off. Once the cover is not hanging down, the unit is small enough not to bother you. Land Rover Addict
