@ 12 degrees today its still very mild and far too warm for Winter Tyres just yet based on the 7d C factor.

When do people plan on changing to their Winter Sets if they have them?

Put mine on 3 weeks ago and they will stay on until end of March at the earliest...find the Wintracs are good even when the weather is mild.

In Switzerland it's generally end of October to the begining of April, but I generally leave my sports car till later and change back earlier. If it's cold then or there's snow I'll take the RR.

It's a bit more random in the UK.

Until I tried them I was the same but the difference is amazing.

Leave Wintracs on all year round

They seemed happy at 30 degrees in South of France over summer

Wintracs do seem fine (I have used them in summer) but the test results show that braking distances on Winter Tyres in summer (plus 7d C) are greater than on Summer tyres.

Therefore the main argument for winter tyres seems to apply the other way round....

You're right, Gary - winter tyres when average daily temp drops below 7 degrees - otherwise they'll be unnecessarily worn and you won't get the maximum benefit . . . . . us Brits are relatively new to this - our Alpine/Nordic colleagues are the best people for this !

I'm with Gaz - whilst Wintracs are OK from a wear perspective, all the tests point to increased stopping distances in the warm weather - I'm also not sure where you would stand from an insurance perspective.....

Its weather dependent - dates aren't relevant. Needs to look like its going to stay below 7 for a while. We've had the odd day but not many so far. Next week is currently forecast cold all week so maybe very soon. One things for sure, you dont need to do it in the rain ! Wait for the next sunny/frosty day. Mike - MPx

Mine (wintracs) went on 2 weeks ago, They'll stay on probably until late March.

Just bought some 20" wheels with continental tyres from Overfinch, straight of a new Westminster. They'll be saved until Spring.

Mine are going on a week tomorrow if Compomotive make my wheels in time. Gonna be interesting running my car on 18's instead of the standard 20's.
