Anyone cooked their lights

Hi
i know it is common to cook your front lights to remove the lens, i was wondering if anyone has done this to their rear ones, just picked up a nice big crack on my supercharged lights, and wanting to know if i can change a lens from an early one onto it

i think you will find the rears are glued/bonded and dont come apart. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

The rears are heat welded so cannot be removed unfortunately... Crying or Very sad

Heat them up in the oven sao that you can split the lens from the light

Ahhhhhhh fair enuf, not heard that one, when I changed my front lens I had no issues swapping it for the new one

You can certainly heat the indicators in the oven to split the lenses... I have one done at home...

If I can remember correctly, 10-15 mins at 50 degrees, then check - glue should be starting to melt at this stage - I think we put it back in for another 10 mins.

A lot of forums say a higher temperature, but SWMBO is a materials scientist, and did her post grad on adhesives, so I went with her lower temp!

You can also use a heat gun, but be careful not to melt the plastic...

I had a broken light that I was practising splitting, as it had been my intention to paint (or vinyl wrap) the indicators and headlights (and ultimately tail lights) along the lines of Googsy2 - but I ended up fitting lamp guards, and thought that having blackened lights, indicators, etc underneath may be going a bit far!

Oh, and whilst I remember - getting the chrome bits out was a lot more difficult! Had to drill out the 3 points where it was glued from behind - not recommended!!! l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l
