dust shield or no dust shield?

Dust shield on the front sides have disintegrated. Is it worthwhile replacing them or just leaving them off?

Thanks [/u] MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

I reinforced the holes with "penny washers" and bolted them back up, I've had cars without them.

Good idea rich, I never thought of that. That's where mine have rusted through , at the bolt holes. MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand

I guessed that is what you were on about, mine started clattering/rattling on every speedbump/pothole! Smile

You have to remove the brake discs to fit new ones.
I'd be inclined to do the washer repair as above and replace the shields next time you replace the discs.

You have to remove the hubs to replace them, unless you cut them off and cut through the new ones to refit!

I too, have used the washer repair to good effect. MOT man complains about these to me.... .

I was told be an MOT tester you don't need the dust shields for an MOT.

Yes I would just cut them to fit them . But think ill see if I can undo the bolts and get some washers fitted to stop the clattering . MY2010 TDV8 Vogue Ipanema Sand
