Yellow engine light normally denotes an issue relating to engine emissions - could be EGR fault or similar. |

Fuel economy? I hear you. At least you're not a diesel guy who thinks there's something wrong because the fuel economy has PLUNGED to ONLY 40 mpg. |

It's one of many things which could include: misfire, coil packs, lean / rich mixture, emissions etc. unless you've noticed the car running lumpy I'd say it's likely to be emissions related. Mine sometimes throws a lean code if I "make too much progress". |
