Hi All

Getting really frustrated here with my FF, been good to me for last 12 months but now being a PITA. 2 weeks ago I had to be recovered - car was going fine and then complete loss of power and car ground to a halt - no warning at all. Chap who recovered me said likely to be fuel pump and/or filter. Filter changed first and then fuel pump but still no joy. Just doesnt seem to be getting any fuel at all. Checked all the fuses/relays and only thing that seems a bit odd is there is only 12v getting to pump once you start to crank the engine - I was sure in the past when I got in and turned the key to position 2 you could hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds to pressurise the system. Off to take the new pump out again as it doesnt appear to be running at all now - maybe just a duff pump - any other thoughts welcome. Ta

Did you have the fuel tank pump or external fuel pump replaced?

Does the problem only occur when you have less than a third of a tank of fuel left?

sorted took new pump out and found the actual pump wasnt housed properly in the base of plastic unit and one of the wires had been dislodged, sorted these and re installed. Fired straight away after this. Just the FSR to sort and all will be good again......

That is great to hear. Also read up on the 1/4 tank issue. That is now probably also taken care of in your case. Happened to me with the 4.2, luckily close to home and with support close by. Got going in no time although the waiting in the heat wasn't great. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

That's a good job done then.

Just for the thread, the petrol ff does not have the inline pump like the td6 does, as far as I can tell.

Whats strange is the 1/4 tank issue seems to effect mostly 4.2SC cars...
