Smokey Exhaust

Hi all

I did not use my car for one week but when I used it yesterday the exhausts both smoked terribly for 2 miles; I stopped the car and turned the engine off for 10 minutes. I then restarted the engine and drove the car with no smoke at all.

Can I expect this when ever the car has't been used for a few days. The car is a 2006 Vogue 3.0 TD6.

Regards

Elena

smoke on the td6 engine is generally caused by the engine breather assembley not being changed.

its simple enough to replace, take the engine cover off and look towards the rear of the engine. you need to undo the injector loom to get to it. once you bought your new breather it will be much easier to spot on the engine, its held on the engine by allan headed bolts. heres a link to one on ebay

but to be honest your best getting one from a dealer.

Hi Elena.
If Arrons suggestion does not work for you have a look inside the inlet manifold by removing the egr valve. Mine didn't smoke when I bought it but about a month later was leaving big black clouds everytime I accelerated. It turned out to be a heavily sooted inlet manifold.

check your oil level cos i think you might be burning it through worn piston rings or valves.. ... - .- -.

Not a fan of the devils fuel but blue smoke could be the turbo oil seals. Better than worn pistonrings and valves but still. OT the best. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]
