OK, forget having work done in Poland.

£900 for a 6 year service.

£400 for a Conti 22" tyre (1).

3 days and numerous phone calls and emails to even get these prices. I will save them for emergencies only and hope I don't need to use them.

Hi, I am just about to organise my first service having bought my used FFRR last year - its second year service. I have been quoted £756 for the second year service by my local dealer. Is that a standard JLR price for the service? Should I be calling round dealers for the best price?

I agree, ring round, but then the fun begins because not all services are equal. There are some optional service items and each dealer will quote for a different scope.

Thanks everyone... yes, ranging from £566 to £756 for the second year service. Typical that the expensive one is 5 mins from me and the cheapest the furthest!

Oh, and another quick few question if I may.... these prices were al JLR dealers. I have an independent garage locally that claims to use all jlr parts. If I used them would it void my warranty? Also would they be able to access the service system to update the log book? Do I need to have the official log booK up to date to retain my warranty or would paper receipts of the service be sufficient?

Thanks.

But as in my previous response, there is every chance that the quotes are for different work scopes. One might include changing transfer box oil, or changing brake fluid and the people you are speaking to don't know exactly what's included. It's surprisingly difficult to really know what you are buying.

i can see your point but when you ring the dealer , you ask what the 2 year service involves and you then quote that work to the next dealer you ring..

if it helps , this is a pdf of service schedules...

That's exactly what I do Stan but it's surprising how often they have to "go and check" or don't seem to know. I managed to get the work scope emailed to me last week which is a big help.

This time I'm going to an independent for the first time, less than half the price of LR and they can update the service history, uses LR parts etc.

Thanks, if an Indy uses JLR parts does the warranty remain intact? I have had a good one recommended by a friend but his is an older model.

One way would be to buy your own genuine parts, e.g. from site sponsor Duckworth LR Parts Dept, keep the parts receipt and then commission a VAT registered independent specialist (VAT receipt is necessary) to fit the parts. Both receipt types would be sound proof for the LR warranty provider.

I thought I would tag onto this thread rather than start a new one as it is on topic.

My local dealer, Grange in Hatfield, seems to be on a push to sell service plans and they have given me a fixed price for the next three of £1,558

My 2016 car has done 84,000 miles and has been service 8 times with the last being the 128k 96 month one.

The next service, 144k is the small service, but the 160k is the massive one with diff oils, transfer box, transmission, dynamic response reservoir, drive belts and coolant change, the schedule then goes back to the start and the 16k small service.

So I think they have either got the price wrong, or it it an amazing bargain. The service manager said that the price covered whatever serving was needed but I will go back and double check.

If that service is included I will rip his hand off ! Laughing 2016 AB SDV8 Barolo black

That does sound like a good deal and worth investigating, do you think it is a dealer only offer or a JLR deal?[/img] First time FFRR owner
