L405 service plan

So, my local dealer has offered a price of just under £2,000 for 3 years servicing (3 services) for my MY 2015 4.4 SDV8. I knew it wouldn't be cheap to service but this is a lot of money for just servicing. Could someone please tell me if this looks like what I should need to pay?

I could also pay it monthly with no interest being added.

Thanks in advance.

Wow thats daylight robbery! Shocked

Not sure on 1st year service cost as it had already been carried out when I bought it, but shouldn't be more than £500-600. However my 2nd service cost was £530 & just had 3rd service recently done at £430, all at LR main dealer.

The idea is to phone around around various LR dealers and get your local dealer to price match the cheapest.

Although it's a pity LR don't offer the 5 year service pack on the L405 as they do with the L494 Sport which costs only £699 2014 SDV8 Autobiography Cool

Just noticed that your Sig says North West, so can i ask which dealer offered you this?

When i was enquiring about a new AB i was told by the sales guy that a Service Pack was available (i think it was 3yrs) & cost either £599 or £699. I said there & then that if i buy a new AB then i'll definitely be wanting that. No surprise that when i came to order i was told the Salesman was wrong & L405's do not have a Service Plan.

I was somewhat Censored ed off about being offered a few things that turned out to be incorrect so got them to throw in the 1st service FOC & a couple of other minor freebies. I'd be extremely surprised if 3 services on one of these could total £2000 so sounds like a bit of a con to me.

My car was due its 2nd year service.
Found a local 4x4 dealership NOT a main dealer.
They installed genuine parts and updated the online service schedule but are not able to carry out warranty work.

North Eastern 4x4 saved me £400 pounds.

Main Dealer £660+ against North Eastern 4x4 £285

They have a web site and they list the other prices for other varieties. (Not sure if I am allowed to advertise)
No I don't work for them.....

Sadly they did not wash the car as well as the main dealer but for £400 i could pay somebody else to - Rolling with laughter

2k is frankly insane and gives no benefit to you whatsoever. I always find out the best price locally and they do vary quite a lot. I'd be surprised if three services (haggled reasonably) cost you more than £1300-£1400 tops. That said you could do what a friend of mine does and take the first price they come up with and then moan to me that he paid £200 more than I did.

Two final thoughts.......if you take out a service plan with a dealer, rather than Manufacturer then you may box yourself in if you don't like what they did and Remember too that loyalty should work both ways and if it doesn't do something about it. There endeth the sermon. Thumbs Up

MY 15.5 3.0. First service was £390. Second service, a big one I'm told, is £580 - both including VAT. Can't imagine the third will be more than £500.

All main dealer prices, with discount. I wouldn't go down the indy route on a car under warranty personally. Not with the hassle or risk of it becoming a haggling point come trade in. Probably because of ignorant people like me who wouldn't buy a car at this price point without a main dealer history.

I have been offered their own service plan by Harwoods for my L405. It covers 3 services and an MOT at a total cost of £1380 payable in 34 monthly instalments of £40. That is about £430 per service and the price is fixed. So I took the deal.

So I think £2000 is way too much

OK, thanks to everyone that responded.

I've got the message that this is too much money which fits with my thoughts. I have now gone out to 3 other LR dealers more or less in my area requesting prices for the same. I'll let you know how much they all ask for when I get their responses back.

I've just looked at the manufacturers service plan and it's £1984 for the next 3 services. I know it was not recommended the last time this question was asked, but not the 3 year+ fixed servicing has gone and this includes what looks like quite an expensive 4 year service, so you think it makes more sense.

I'm not interested in using an independent garage and will be extending the manufacturers warranty. I'm also not that interested in ringing round and trying to chip the price each year, so the fixed pricing does appeal. A 5 year 50,000 mile service pack was included in my last car and I did enjoy the hassle (and cost!) free servicing experience.

I've done a quick guess based on what I've read and I think the 3 services could be just above £2k, so while I don't think it's a great deal, it doesn't sound like a terrible one either plus it protects me from inflation, but would appreciate your thoughts.

I ask my regular dealer for the usual 10% discount when booking to avoid calling around. It works 9/10 times and if not, one call to another dealer sorts it. You could save £200 using this approach. MY23 D350 HSE

When I get the reminder I always contact the dealer and ask for the best price. By contact I mean actually speak to the service manager, not some numpty in a call centre. If it’s reasonable I say ok, if I think it’s steep I say so and 10% is chipped off. Last service (at 4 years old with 33k miles) was £530 inc the MoT. I thought that fair. Will be booking for this year shortly.

My last two annual services (franchise dealer in Scotland) came to under £1,100, so the third one would need to be about £900 or more to make it worthwhile. I'd rather pay as I go, who knows what might happen.

Anyone contemplating paying it all up front might check how and where the unused portion will be held, if it just goes to the dealer you'd just be an unsecured creditor if they go bust and probably see little value, though if paid by credit card one could claim against the card company. Only Range Rovers since 1988

It's paid over 24 months (same cost as buying up front) and it with the manufacturer rather than the dealer. The small print says it can be transferred if you sell the car or you get a refund for the unused portion (however they work that out!) MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid
