Check:
1. Fuel/oil dilution. Change oil.
2. Check MAF cleanliness (there is a post ref this on here somewhere)
3. Check rear dpf sensor fitment (voltage should be less than 1v)
4. Get an IIID tool

The DPF themselves rarely go wrong. There are a few instances of people blaming a DPF fault like this guy:

https://metro.co.uk/2017/03/30/livid-range...p-6542556/

it's usually people who live in urban slow-traffic environments who then blame the DPF. If you do more than about 4 miles per trip on roads that aren't completely jammed it will usually be fine.

1. Fuel dilution, highly possible due to car possibly not being serviced in a while. Not sure why diesel should be contaminating the oil though

2. MAF, cleaned very recently when oil cooler gaskets were changed

3. Rear DPF sensor, job for Indy while they have it

4. IID tool, I have the Bearmach diagnostic tool which is able to read soot levels and is very comprehensive in it’s abilities. From what I understand the difference between the two seems to stem between being able to alter CCF which the Bearmach cannot do.

I don’t want to become fixated with soot levels by checking the reading every week or so, the car should be able to manage all that for me, after all, that is how it’s been designed. I had a 13 plate KIA Sportage from new, covered 45,000 miles in 3 years using it every day for commuting and it never once threw any warnings about the DPF.

Fuel dilution into the crankcase oil can occur because the car pumps diesel into the dpf to raise temps in order to regen. My level was 12 it after oil change is now reading 0.082.

I have had my car back for a couple of weeks now. Garage were unable to force a regen of the DPF due to it being pretty much full to the brim, so they cut off the relevant exhaust section and carried out a clean before refitting. I left it with them for a few days to run around in to test everything was OK and am happy to report that everything is working exactly as it should.
The reason for my issue turned out to be leaks on the intake side causing excessive soot build up. So much so that the poor DPF couldn't regen fast enough. Issues identified were plenum hoses (I did already have the silicon ones which were fine just not fitted correctly) and EGR intake (he did mention something else but I was too busy trying to ignore the figure at the bottom of the bill). I had a full service along with front and rear discs and pads as well as handbrake shoes. Amazingly one of the handbrake shoes was down to the metal yet had passed an MOT just prior to my purchase. So the car is back to normal and I haven't seen the yellow warning pop up since, although there is no respite from garage bills as I now have to book it in for corroded brake pipes Big Cry

update

well just had to bite the bullet and get the pax side inlet manifold changed (they change the plenum pipes for the new design as part of the package.)

SO now £1600 lighter but car running brilliantly.

Hats off to MJ Fews of Charfield who were true to their word, accurate in their pricing to 64p and delivered superb customer service (they are a non-franchised LR outfit. Used to be LR main dealer I believe but saw the light??)

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Guys I have experienced 2 full dpf red warnings, car went into restricted performance. Turned out to be a faulty erg temperature sensor fault, luckily this sensor is easy to get to. Ever peachy until yesterday due to local short trips the Red DPF FULL IN RED returned. Went to my local garage..error code P2463...soot accumulation. Went for a blast to try and regen but nothing..40 mile round trip at high revs using paddle shift. I then bought Wyns DPF cleaner for a tenner..went for a blast again and it's now cleared..car drives beautifully...give it a go before paying someone .

Sorry for the thread resurrection but I’ve been trying to check my DPF level with my GAP IID but the PCM module isn’t shown on the live values quick list, I can’t find any guidance about how to get to those soot mass readings. I’ve had the tool plugged in, connected to my phone with the engine running, and also with just the ignition on. Nothing.
Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong? 2012 L322 TDV8 Vogue SE: Buckingham Blue

Gee. Thanks Gee.

Having read the various posts on here, keeping an eye on it before it becomes a problem seems to be the wise move.

Your post was not hugely helpful in this regard; are you suggesting the PCM Module isn’t visible unless there is a problem recorded? 2012 L322 TDV8 Vogue SE: Buckingham Blue
