Update from the ramp:

DPF exhaust section out:

...and on the floor:

Didn't get a before pic, sorry.
Looks cleaner to the naked eye than this pic btw.

I do have flow rates before and after:

They are refitting it all now... Cheers, Greg

I think 32.5 is as high as it reads.
The zero I feel may be a slight misnomer.

The reason is that he told the ECU a new DPF was fitted, which is the right thing to do. The flow rate on the ticket he said was excellent, virtually a new DPF rate. That's why the zero came up.

But the ECU was happy and the faults cleared as did the restricted mode.

But it tells me the grams are not exactly a live value and somehow averaged.

It's crept up to 2g in the last hour. Shocked

Slightly worried I'll suffer from DPF anxiety from now on.

Anxiety or not it's fantastic to be driving it again, it's been two weeks. Couldn't get time, between my diary and the DPF guy's diary till now.
. Cheers, Greg

Mike I clarified the sensor question. The sensor error he picked up was the DPF, not the EGR. Slight language barrier but the guy Luka knew his stuff.

The DPF sensor was just crud'd up and fine after the clean.

I still think I should change my sensor now...
. Cheers, Greg

I presume that the drop is a result of my long motorway trip. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

Greg,
Another possible variable for DPF regents .
Yesterday I had to do a quick dash to my daughters, which is a 60 mile M6 trip, but limited to 50mph most of the way due to roadworks.
It was bouncing down the whole journey, but I got my newly trained iPad iid wife to take a few screenshots of the DPF live values.

Cold just out of garage.

13.5 soot mass is my highest reading ever, and I am blaming, rightly or wrongly the heavy rain for keeping the exhaust cooler than normal ??

Hi Mike'

All your temps are normal. The 100deg reading we now know thanks to Nino is not a fault but it's the temp sensor post second turbo. You'll find that reads 100 until you call in the cavalry and the spool up the second turbo.

I think your DPF grams will keep creeping up and when it eventually hits 17g, and you're doing 50 mph it'll cook and you'll see the grams drop. It's actually fascinating to watch the readings when it happens. It might take weeks or months to reach 17g (mine is more weeks).

That 17g regen will be the 'passive regeneration' where the DPF spirals up to 600drgrees.

But there may also be a more subtle one although my only evidence is a recent trip to Heathrow, (30mins, 40 & 50mph roads) where I was not near the 17g threshold but before I set off I was at 12.5g and arrived at 11g. I did have the temps visible and didn't see a proper cook going on - i.e. no abnormally high temps showing. Not sure why my grams dropped, they normally go in the other direction.

A more subtle regen happening in the background (loose theory mind) might explain why yours seems to keep itself in check, together with the turbo drain having been done.

. Cheers, Greg

Thanks Greg,
I didn’t expect such an increase from 10.8 to 13.5 when it was all over 45-50mph.
I am sure on a dry day it would still read 10 or less on arrival?

I thought I would have a look at the state of my DPF with my IID tool and can't seem to find the settings on my app. Mine is a L405 TDV8 and when I go into Live Values I can't see any of the readings on your IID tool. Did you have to enable something on your app to be able to see these settings or is the L405 different and you can't read those live values?

This is the live value section of my app Confused
