Depending on how far gone they are, someone on here recently had theirs coated. Could be a cheaper option?..?

Get some recommendations for locsl independent land rover specialists.
There's absolutely no way it can't be done for a small fraction of that amount when the pipe & fittings should cost less than £40!
The dealership is probably quoting for the horrendous task of trying to fit pre-shaped LR OE steel pipes - rather than making up some copper nickel pipe to fit (possibly requiring an extra joint to make it easier to feed it around the various underbody "obstacles"). Paul,

I had a similar quote from main dealer, I asked how much was the b/pipe. At the time it was about £28 the rest
I was told, "sir it is because we have to drop the rear subframe to fit the pre-formed pipe". Rubbish!!!! Censored ,
After reading Joe90s superb write up its my project for early next year.
It really annoys me that for such a iconic car that they scrimp and cut corners on stuff like brake pipes, how much would cupra nickle cost an extra £60+ on the price of a new car?.

Having done the job a couple of times (I run a garage ) to do it properly with copper or cunifer it takes about 4 to 6 hours to do properly (lots of trim to remove) and run them right to the joints in the front wheelarch so should be about £300 to £400 at sensible labour rates , bit of a faff though .

I've done quite a few of these and it's not a huge job if you have the pipe flaring kit etc.

I seem to remember the only thing that really needs to come off is the plastic cover underneath the passenger seat as the pipes corrode quite badly under there. You can easily join the pipes at the front of this section as the pipes rarely corrode in front of that. In almost all cars I've seen, there are connections already fitted behind the n/s front wheel liner and it is quite easy to undo the bolts at the bottom rear of the liner and join here also.

It is a little tricky getting the pipes through the correct places across to the rear o/s wheel though not that hard. There is no need to drop the sub-frame etc. and just carefully feed the pipe through.

The job is not much more than 2 or 3-hours at the most with the car on a ramp, and the parts are probably less than £10 if you can make the pipes and joints up yourself.

£900 is obscene....! Current:

I'm just about to do the job on the driveway. The tool is about 30quid. The copper pipe about 30 quid , and I bought a tray of unions for 20quid.

No way would I pay £900 quid. V8 or else ...

It is worth removing the front inner wheelarch covers on the front left (RHD passenger side) - especially the smaller one against the engine bay (this will probably break on removal Shocked ).

Lots of rusty pipework will be found ! (ref my photo tutorial!)

No point replacing the rears if the connecting pipes are shot to pieces. .

Would strongly suggest following Joe90 advice. I did mine back in February as one had split under the tank cover. The short connector pipes in the LH wheel well were nearly shot as well. 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Has anyone tried buying the genuine LR rear pipes and cutting and flaring the O/S pipe to make fitting across the rear subframe easier? 2014 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography & 2015 3.0SDV6 HSE Lux Discovery 4
