Grizzly,

What you have is a 2010 AB car with a JLR Design pack bodykit fitted. The rear piece of your bumper (the hacked up bit) should be removed to access the tow bar! The previous owner has obviously modified the panel to use the tow bar without removing this panel every time...

Here is a pic of one of my old cars with the same bumper kit fitted...

You simply turn the 4 tabs 90 degree's and pull off that panel, when removed you will see the bracket your electrics socket should be fitted to on the left side of the tow bar bracket...

Thanks Craig - I had recognised the Design pack bodykit but didn't realise it needed to come off before accessing the tow hitch... so not only has this previous owner not known/bothered to do this but they have also moved the electric socket on to the design pack so it can't be easily removed anymore. Big Cry

Oh well, guess there's a little bit of re-wiring to be done before I can properly prove it works. Censored

I've seen some of your posts and work, very impressive Very Happy Thumbs Up

Thank you again very very much for the heads up Bow down Bow down Bow down

To save me searching around, do you know roughly here the 4 tabs are you speak of? Whistle

ok, found the tabs.. pretty obvious when you get under the vehicle and look really.

I've only got 3 tabs because they've screwed the electric plug mounting plate in where the 4th tab insert would be (middle-drivers side)... I'm going to take off the the underbumper bit and see if I can see where the electric plug should be mounted.

Sheesh, some people.. what a hack job Big Cry

ok got some more photo's now I've taken that underbumper bit off (thanks Craig!)

The wiring hack (best way I can describe it):

If you look closely they've also hacked up some of the plastic at the back.. either that, or it's melted with heat at some stage:

But at least the tow tongue fits!

Though it does seem rather tight, does that top inset come out at all or is it supposed to be like that?

Thanks!

*sigh*

I think I've found the one bit of the tow hitch that they did get the grinder out for...

That tiny little bit that they've sheared off there is where it looks like you normally secure your trailer electrical socket - judging from photos such as this from roverparts.com

Can someone confirm please? Big Cry

The centre panel of the bumper also pulls off once you undo the two fixing plastic screw in thingy's!

I used to take mine off when towing as the trailer gets VERY close to the paintwork when hitching up!

Yes the tow electrics mount has been hacked off of yours by the looks of it! Rolling Eyes

Are there multiple tow hitch assemblies for the different regions? (Eg. UK, US, OZ)

@rar110 I’m also in Brisbane and have a 2007 L322 4.2SC but struggling to understand tongue weight limits. I am wondering if there are different assemblies for each market (even though they all look the same) then this may help explain things.

Not directly related to this thread I know... but indirectly may help me.

@Drew you're better off starting a new threat, your question will be lost in this one.
