here are the pics of the gaskets, one head had a blow by between cylinders, the only thing i can think is it was passing between the gasket?

Well. Bottom one looks fairly ok, but the top one is completely shot around the fire rings of pots 1 & 4 from what i can see. Good head skim with pressure test and a decent brand head set with mls gaskets and i reckon you'll be good to go. 2006 4.2 SC

I might be wrong but if they are out a lot you need the valve seats doing on the heads.

Other option is to buy the oversized a ones and machine them down, the work manual says they make a couple of different sizes so I imagine dan can sort you out at duckworths Current stable:

Hello all.

right so update, as i ahev the gasket set thought i would start to slowly re-assemble, have the intake bolted back onto the heads.

before i refitted them i thought lets double check the valve clearences... out of 32 valves i think 4 are withink spec.....

so i have worked everything out.... ordered 2 tappet/buckets as a tester to make sure my maths was right.

GET IN.... i got it right (or close enough anyway)

so i get on and work out the rest of the tappets need on my first line of vlaves, the plan is to change and entire set, move to the next and see if i can re-use any to save a few quid.

no the brick wall i have just hit is that i ordered LR037308, but this is now obsolete.....

does any one know how to cross refernce or jag engine parts to the one in the actual jag? or do i need to try something else?

Cheers for any help

my wife has grown a child quicker than i have even got half way repairer this lol.....

the hang up has been the tappets, LR say that the parts are obsolete so having to source the jag versions, sadly this is taking time...

hopeing within the next week at least on head will be bolted back onto the engine, then will hit the other head hard,

our slow down is going to be parts avalability and the money for them..

but dont fear more photos will follow soon.
