What a load of crap man. They give you one price and then say its something completely different two weeks later. I'm going to hazard a guess they are saying that simply so they don't have to do the job. Guessing you still haven't had Martin call and speak too you and go through it all with you with what's what etc

Can only apologise for the recommendation mate. They have always been spot on with me with no trouble what so ever so I really don't get why they have suddenly slacked in the service they deliver.

That almost makes them sound like they didn't even diagnose it in the first place. I mean it can't go from one quote to another considering they haven't even done nothing as of Wednesday when Martin said it's not been on the ramps or bay plus why didn't they call sooner. Too me all sounds like they simply ain't interested in going forward with the job.

Trouble is I guess it all depends on how much money your willing too put into it and how you go forwards such as do you just cut your losses and say OK time to sell up and move on, do I try another garage, do I just go for it and do it myself etc

I dont trust any work they have said. 3 weeks to diagnose they surely would have known wht it was. 2 weeks nothing happening but I go there today and its something else and 2k

I need to take it somewhere else but not pay £720 for no work done. And now my question is does ot drive as it drive when I took ot there Current Cars

The bullcrap they have been feeding you mate, it would be hard too trust anything. I'd almost be inclined to suggest that you don't pay for anything considering how incompetent they have proven too be and how the story keeps changing. It's not exactly filling you with confidence. Well seen as they said it wasn't even on the ramp on Wednesday and you spoke to them this morning I'd probably suggest nothings been done for it to go up and extra £1300 in a matter of hours just. Seems very much like a way of over charging the customer to get rid of the job as they will take it else where. Its just going to be a pita if they've took it all apart.

Only other garage I was told about was red lion garage in Orsett. I haven't used them so I can't say on there service etc

Well yeah I need to say look ypu havent really neen working on it I gave them the chance to say they didnt want to touch it they then said £720 and heard nothing for 10 days and go down there and price has gone up. I think its £2720 but again they were not clear

I will wait for the wuote then tell martin I cant pay for a non fixed car etc amd then see see about taking it elsewhere or see of someone has done the job before and feels like being lind to me Current Cars

Think it's only fair you start too throw your own weight around now to be fair mate and tell them I'm sorry but it took you 5 weeks to get too this stage after I come down and the price is now anything of £2,000 upwards however as of 4 and half weeks in the car hadn't had any other work done as per email.

I just hope for your sake mate it still a running car. If it ain't mate, I've got a car trailer so I'll come and pick it up for you.

If it is the timing, you thought about doing it yourself?

Really appreciate that mate. But now how do we know what is the issue. We thought the waveform said it was out on the timing and needed to go back a few clicks that was the last we heard until today when sean said ot needed a part they ordered the part was the wrong part then the right part. Then he calls and says its the chain and has damaged inside but how do I know it wasnt damaged by them. Im not saying it was but how would we know

As for doing it myself I could gove ot a go depends how intense it is. Current Cars

All you can do i guess is just see what they state the actual fault is and what this part is that they apparently ordered.

I guess given the fact that the initial diagnosis was the chain was too advanced there's nothing stopping you in doing the timing yourself and get a friend to give you a hand but all depends on how competent you are with the spanners.

Only reason I say the chain is up until then they had no reason to give you any bull crap where as now it could well be just a way too get rid of the car n you take it back so they can claim they never turned ye job down and the customer withdrew the car at their own consent

I will try and get them to give the call back for the original diagnostics and maybe a tad more for taking some bits off

Iwill request what the faults are parts ordered and what they are saying is wrong with it then go and collect it

If it does not drive then they will need to fix it so it does. Then U will have to look at what my options are. If I pay £720 it will ne under duress and I will have to take action in accordance with the link that was sent to me. Current Cars

Don't see why you should pay more. I mean it's not like they done much work apparently so shouldn't be paying the £720.

I just fired off an email to Martin summerising where we are at and how we can resolve things. Basically I can take it back if he is unable to fix the 45 degree timing issue but at a cost of 2x diagnostics £168+ VAT

Option 2 he comes up with exactly what iswromg with the car and sets a reasonable price to fix it with a hard deadline date.

I cant pay £2000-£3000 to fix something on the car when I dont even know what it is and if I trust what has been told to me.

I wont paste the email but will keep all posted. Bean if it does not drive I might need you buddy. Current Cars
