United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue

Stripped and cleaned my front brakes yesterday. The pads and discs are fairly new and decent quality but I was getting a bit of steering wheel wobble when first applying the brakes at motorway speeds. Now with everything cleaned up and extensively greased, the brakes are back to what they should be.

I’ve now fitted discs and pads all round had to strip and service the same brakes within 12 months. I had a Volvo zc90 for 4 years and didn’t touch the brakes once!

Ah well, it makes up for it in other ways I suppose - the defender needed new backs last time it was MOTd, as well, the joys of the green oval,

Flushed out the rear washer pipes and cleared the jets in the wiper arm.
It was the one way valve that was blocked last time, but the temporary one I fitted three years ago from a garden plant watering system is still working good.
I suspect that the screen wash from Eurocarparts is causing the problem by emulsifying in the tank.
I have refilled my tank with a much weaker solution now the worst of the winter frosts is behind us (hopefully)

Re-dyed and removed creases from the passenger seat and drivers seat. Cleaned all the leather throughout and then fed it using gliptone leather food.

Had the aircon regassed. Wasn't before time! Had it done at KwikFit. Very pleased. Machine does a leak test before re-filling. They say if it doesn't work they won't charge. John

Not looking forward to doing the other control arms with the removable ball joint, looks a bit of a 'mare

Thought I’d check/change the rear wiper blade. Normally a 2min job……1hr later and 2 skinned knuckles we got there!

It only involved the use of a hammer, wd40 and a kebab skewer!

For reference I’m not a complete numpty, but it had rusted on and the plastic tab to squeeze was brittle and snapped off! Ach! well it’s done now and all working 👍 L322 TD6 2003

Not today but last Friday. I drove my Westie up some ramps to check the new ball joint arms the selling dealer had fitted after it had an advisory on the MOT they had put on it.

Since I have had the vehicle there has been a loud 'dink' noise coming from either side of the front suspension, usually a low speed when parking. I did suspect that these arms perhaps hadn't been torqued up correctly. Well, my suspicions where well founded. They were no where near the torque they should have been. So I loosened them and then torqued them up to spec. Result - no more noise. Luckily, the arms hadn't suffered in any way as a result of their bad fitting - happy days! RR Westminster 2012 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey
