Latest update for you guys.

Yipee! managed to get in without breaking a window (now got a spare second hand one). Alarm did not go off, released bonnet catch.
Disconnected battery, left it for half an hour, reconnected it alarm went off, pressed fob button alarm stopped all doors unlocked. Tried locking/ unlocking all works ok. Started up, turned steering lock to lock, took for run drives ok.
Checked alternator charging ok when ticking over, so I must have flattened battery while working on RR.

Had a look a battery size, it has been fitted with a Lion 017 type before I bought RR. So have just got a new one today an Exide 019 EK950 AGM for a very good price, see link.

Will fit battery when it stops raining and remove door panel to find out why emergency key does not work.

Very happy that I have not had to send it to dealers at great expense and inconvenience, as per breakdown companies solution. A Yorkshire man does not like to be beaten. -----------------------

Great news! Perhaps you could now use some inexpensive monitoring solution to rule out battery drain.

That’s good then. Bad things happen when the battery goes flat, and better to have the correct one fitted.

Won’t ask how you got in on here 🤣.

Just to update you all.

Removed passenger door panel etc(seeing sun was shining), emergency lock barrel turning inside door but not doing anything.
After removing piece of thin foam covering top of door lock mechanism and having a look with my endoscope camera. I could see a four pointed socket in the top of the lock that should have had the end of the lock barrel in it. So slackened the lock barrel from door and with a fair bit of jiggling inside door panel, got the barrel shaft to fit in the correct place. The door now unlocks with the emergency key.

I would suggest that you all check your key works for peace of mind, so you do not get problem I had.

Thanks again for all the help. -----------------------
