The starter motor solenoid battery connection is easy to get to providing the vehicle can be jacked enough to get under.

it is actually exposed and easy enough to access the starter from behind the driver side wheel, i did it whilst trying to correlate voltage drop from battery > starter then battery > relay/trigger> starter

On a separate note, what about the physical key? SOLD | Tuned MY 2011.5 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey | e-diff | ACC

Still not opened getting ready with big hammer!

Baltic Blue, getting just over 12v across socket terminals with volt meter so assume there ok.

Haylands, front side are laminated, rears look std glass. Does not look like I can get to bonnet release throu grille as I have latest front end, everything has been covered over nothing visible.

Merchy, have just tried booster on starter terminals, nothing unlocking.

Do any of you know where I can get an untinted std rear o/s door glass?

Thanks again for all your suggestions -----------------------

I've just read that when you turn the key in the door you have to pull the handle at the same time. Worth a go.

Others have opened the bonnet by removing the left (front) inner wheelarch (after removing the wheel) and then gaining access (with tools) to the two bonnet release cables/mechanisms. Could be a battery disconnect procedure may be in order... .

Just remembered my similar condition - Car Lock smith?

I was away at sea, a week prior to my return home my daughter tried to open fatty to check it would start / charge battery. She could not open it as it was dead as a doornail. I Was not here so I don't have full details. But no one could get into the car by ANY method............ANSWER...... she called a car locksmith, who got into it with no damage caused to the car.

Worth trying before using the big hammer, sorry I don't have more details, one thing I can remember is that daughter said the lock smith did not want people watching as he got into it which is understandable.

Hope this helps, probably cheaper than new glass, thumbsup:

Edit - Just seen the above post, but you would need the locking wheel nut tool, which I assume is in the car Big Cry

Joe90, Merchy, Yep locking wheel nut is in car together with Jack.

Spoke a local locksmith said could'nt get in without causing damage.

I think I have found a new replacement battery for the duff one, Exide 019 AGM EK950 for £120.

Also ordered a second hand rear door window in case I have no option than to break in. -----------------------

An addition to my post above, I forgot, at the time the cable for the outer door handle was broken (Drivers door ) just spoke to daughter, she said, quote -
'The locksmith did it the old fashioned way, he pulled the door frame outwards to get a wire in and a very small pad to keep some space, to get the wire to the inner door handle, obviously the car was locked shut, this was on a 2006 car There was zero damage to the car. May be worth a try the same way ?

Edit -

Bit more info from my daughter - apparently, the lock smith used a very small plastic protected lever on the top of the door frame, right at the rear of the door, next he slid in a very small inflatable plastic bag, slightly inflated it, then used a very thin tool almost like wire to pull on the inside door pull and the door opened. He did say there was a possibility of damage and that he would go ahead, if he was not responsible if any damage was caused, she bravely said 'go for it' Shocked But it worked a charm Thumbs Up

I’m not sure that’s gonna work if the car is double locked…. Perhaps the only thing to go for is the bonnet catch, might be hard to pull though.

I’m also not sure if the open tailgate button on the dash might work….

There is a way to open the boot lid and get in. DO NOT smash a window and DO NOT have a locksmith destroy your door lock barrel.

Neither will work on a superlocked / double locked car. Ask me how I know Whistle

But the trick I'm referring to, works every time and is a good insurance policy to know about it...

Hopefully he can use it to get in then. Then carry on sorting potential battery issues from there.
