Thanks for that, is there another thread for the vortex filter? Also blank the EGR rather than replace them? Does that need a software update as well?

Change the crankcase filter for the later BMW vortex type and fit an EGR removal kit from Allisport

Done both . No software update needed on TD6

The TD6 is pretty old school. The EGR can be physically removed. Mine was in the boot when I traded it.

Some upgrade info here….

I sit there trying to remember the reg of old family cars, trying to see if they are still on the road and the last time a new owner was registered.

Sounds like a plan…. Tidy TD6…. Change the crankcase filter for the later BMW vortex type and fit an EGR removal kit. Sorted.

Thumbs Up

Ok, so spotted this in the For Sale section, just enquired to see if it’s still available;

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic61570.html

Looks better than the last one, albeit with a few issues, last MoT issue was thin brake discs. Bit of a drive as it’s in Glasgow, but it’s a nice colour combination, and reads as reasonably solid, can’t see any rust in the images will see if they’d be open to an inspection….but as ever would appreciate any comments from the collective on here.

I quite like that. Looks honest. Not been messed with. Still got the original 18 inch wheels. My TD6 was exactly like that, but with Ivory seats.

I’d say definitely worth a message/chat.

I don’t think it’s too much with prices being inflated at the moment with the chip shortage and the usual winter inflation on 4x4’s. Twelve months ago it would have been c£3/3.5k wouldn’t it?

Appreciate it’ll fall in value when the bubble bursts, but will need something as a daily driver before that happens (bad timing!)

Thanks to Tom for replying so quickly. The bottom outer arch/sill have some minor rust to them so I’ll pass this time but it will make a good TD6 for someone with right skills.

Out of interest to repair rust on these areas how much does it cost per side? I seem to recall the replacement panel isn’t manufactured.

There is a replacement panel now, but it’s only the arch. Doesn’t go far along the sill, but better than nothing.

So £150 for the panels, about £300? For labour?? And what another £500 for paint and blending?

Tom has allowed me to post his picture of the rust.

Apparently same both sides, so if you’d be kind enough to pass judgement on status and remedy I’d be grateful.

That’s where they all seem to go eventually. My TD6 had a little hole above the plastic sill cover at 11 years old, and I’d tried to keep it clean.

Is the grey bit on the arch some extra protection?

I’m not a bodywork expert, but that looks like you might get it rubbed back to metal and treated etc and it will look tidy.

Obviously you could cut all the arch out and fit that replacement panel if you wanted new metal in the arch.

All depends how long you’d keep it if you had it? Get it rubbed down and treated might get you enough time to save for the 4.4 TDV8 🤣 or you might decide that you love the TD6 and replace the panel after a while to protect it longer.

I think you might be lucky to find one without any rust at all, given oldest is 18 years old etc…. Unless it’s been painted already.
