replacing heater motor on a 2012 help needed please

S0 ive ordered the new heater motor and had a good search on here for help but almost all info is on the earlier cars, if anyone has links to videos or just info on how to remove the end caps, vent caps, top dash with the two vents and any other info before i start ripping the bits out i would be most grateful, im hoping to not have to strip everything out but go through the top so any info from people who have done this would be great, i indent to do a full writ up for others with later cars.

Thanks in advance

I think I'm staring down the barrel of this with my 2012 as well, having had the FSR replaced on Dec 23rd and the fans have stopped working again today, ugh.
So I've been spending a little while researching this today as well - as you say, there's a bunch of differences from the earlier models. Here's what I have so far...

1. Firstly, on a 2010-2012 L322 the fuse for the front heater fan is in the rear fuse box (behind the right hand panel in the load area), marked with a fan icon, F21, 40amp. When my FSR died the front fan ran 24/7 so I had to pull this fuse.
("dexion7" shows an image of the fuse location here:

2. "Arbuckle" meantions replacing the FSR but then had to disconnect the battery for 10 mins before the fan would run again (perhaps this cleared an HVAC fault?)

3. Partial access to the fan can be made from the engine side by removing the cabin filter / pollen box housing, allowing you to test how tight the fan has become. A squirt of lubricating oil on the spindle might loosen it up and help delay full replacement. (Garnerj with a 2011 confirmed access via box removal)
(See "Joe90" post https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post552166.html#552166)
UPDATE: Although "SveinHa" suggests in another post that might not be a great idea...? https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post407877.html#407877

4. Partial access might be possible from under the dashboard too, see "t5pete"'s photo here https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post616241.html#616241

5. "L19 MUD" documented the fan replacement on their 2012 ... and, just, wow. The full monty strip down.

6. "SveinHa" did a couple of posts showing the difference between how a stuck heater fan spins verses a new one, and then the "shortcut" mod to the full strip down he did on his late 2009.

Last year I fitted the Naviplus unit (see the general thread on this here: https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic56194.html) and the instructions for that guided me through stripping down the dash - I can find them and PM them to you if they'd help?

Hi Furnitureman, my fan has just failed suddenly! How did you get on with yours?
