The below is the only other thing I have found relating to L405 earths, I do not know if this applies to your car.

Hopefully someone should be able to point you in the right direction soon

Thanks again Merchy

Does anybody know if I can get into the boot area - the button and remote are not opening it. It has executive seating so climbing into the boot appears to be impossible! Big Cry Can the IID Tool open the tailgate? Thanks in advance…. Thumbs Up

I am assuming that you were on your hols when this all started -

Unless you have some serious wiring damage somewhere or water ingress, which seems unlikely, then all this still points to battery / earth wires and other wires to the battery / connections / alternator & connections etc.etc.
You would have to get further advice about a hard reset on an L405 from someone else with more knowledge than me, but could be a plan, and will cost nothing but a little time.

I would start with all that or go to a reputable Indy / auto electrical oufit, or similar and get them to test the battery / systems, because there are so many completely unrelated faults that there must be a common cause for all these faults.

Just to indicate these types of problems, read the current thread 'Car just died, any ideas?' initially it seemed to be
a horrendous problem and turned out to be a battery cable problem, that affected everything.

Just had a thought, in addition to my above waffle, as you have not reported any other faults with the car, are most of these systems actually working ? If so then the above is most likely to be your problem. Hope this helps.

Thanks again Merchy, fault code U0121-00 (abs module) appears in a lot of the list of faults. The biggest issue I have at the moment is getting into the boot area as it’s electric and won’t open, made worse as I can’t climb in (see above post)…I’m hoping the IID Tool can open it!

Have you checked the earth's in the front arch, as previously advised?

Mikey's idea would be a good place to start - also if you want to charge the battery from under the bonnet, check the below thread, including pics. As before on the screen on the L322 you can get the battery charging voltage on the display, I would think this SHOULD be possible on yours, but don't take this as gospel.

Hi Mikey, I’m just back from holiday today and ordered an IID Tool whiltst I was away. I haven’t checked the earthing points as the supplying garage has told me this afternoon to take it to a main dealer to have it repaired, at their expense…..many thanks for your guidance and I’ll let the forum know the outcome…..the unlocking tailgate is a mystery in all this. Thanks again Thumbs Up

Ps. I intend to come to you guys for my 120 month service…my mother lives in Crail, Fife so you’re not too far away Thumbs Up

See the thread -

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic62384.html

As Mikey suggested, this could well be the problem, at least point the dealer in that direction, as some main dealer staff are not the best at fault diagnosis. Not all, but seems to be pot luck from comments on here.
At least you will not be paying for the work. Thumbs Up

Thanks again Merchy, I’ve just read that thread - pretty much identical IID Tool fault list I have (with the exception of the tailgate which won’t open)…I’m sure the earth connection/s will be the cause. I’ll give the dealer the IID faults list and Mikey’s suggestion. Next thing is to arrange for a recovery truck to take it there on Monday - 160 mile round trip! Crying or Very sad

Well, it got worse (flat battery) then it got better (after jump start the tailgate came back to life). I think I’m going to have a look at the earth connection in the o/s/f wing tomorrow.

Mikey, is if correct to say that it’s just the front part of the underwing that has to be removed (5 or 6 screws)?

Thank you Thumbs Up

Well done Mikey! Exactly as you diagnosed - earth connection under o/s front wing…..well done! Bow down

I ended up having it recovered to dealer by the AA as warranty is covering costs…..£350 + vat😮

Definitely worth checking this as it cripples the 405!

Thanks again Mikey! Thumbs Up
