It will be interesting what happens with your new O2 sim keep us informed, hopefully that will resolve 1 part of the connectivity issue.

There should be a MAC address, I have one, along with a IMEI, did you try the reset button below the IMEI number? I would think the reset would do a search for the vehicle MAC etc worth a try.

In response to both messages

1. I have no MAC address. I’ve tried the reset quite a few times and the IMEI number renews and remains the same but a MAC address never appears.
2. No, I can’t connect to my home WiFi, nor any hotspot I use on my mobiles (in the car).
I have seen a list of available networks maybe once or twice but ordinarily, I just spins and never finds any. I guess this is due to the lack of MAC address.

Just done a few Goggle searches and found a similar issue regarding your No Mac address.
It was on the F type jag forum. I know clutching at straws lol but when you fit your new sim try below method.

I had similar issues when my old sim ran out on date whilst still connected to mobile data.
It gave similar symptoms as you, IMEI and Mac address blank.
Putting in the new sim didn't fix it.
I took the sim out and left the car overnight.
Next day started it up and waited a few minutes for it all to activate (which it needs) and the car's IMEI and Mac were back.
Fitted the new sim and all was good again. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Bit of a long shot lol but I’ll pop the sim out and check again in the morning.
Thinking about it, I would expect the MAC address to be there without the SIM card in, so I will check that too.

Contacted LR customer services but they couldn't really help me with my current issue. They still had my old car registered under my reg number, so that's been updated at least.

As to the issues at hand, they checked and confirmed a s/w update was outstanding but they didn't see any reference to a TCU update, so didn't expect that to solve the Wi-Fi issue but suggested I wait until I get the O2 SIM card and get that done as a first pass.

On a couple of occasions the car has given me a list of Wi-Fi connection but my home Sky broadband eventually times out with "connection failed", again I think this is due to the lack of MAC address but LR said that has nothing to do with the sat nav being registered to AN Other.

I can still use all the InControl services like remote start, guardian mode etc, so I don't see any issues with that.

They did also mention that they're "working" on a solution to the demise of 3G but couldn't say what that was. They also pointed me to a company called "Ubigi" who provide sim cards for in car use but it looks like that may only be for >2018 cars.

Got my O2 SIM card today. Stuck it in a spare phone, put some credit on it and checked I could surf, all ok.

my sim module doesnt work but I can internet by tethering to my phone so haven't bothered getting it fixed further First time FFRR owner
