this jets are from a little Iveco Truck , but many other cars have such a jet, my jaguars have the jets on the front , so I come to this idea

FrankN I like it. More for the fact that it will probably last the lifetime of the car than for it's aesthetics.

When you say "jets" - can you explain a little more for me please?

I've now done the OP's repair with the oil seal. If it lasts, great, if not I will do a FrankN repair.

Unfortunately I've left it too late to do this fix and the wiper motor is now totally furbared so it's going to have to be replaced. However, I've noticed that the rear washer pump no longer seems to work. Is there a defeat device that would prevent the washer motor from working if the wiper doesn't work? Fuses are ok. Drives:

Slightly different (simpler?) method

I've just carried this out on mine. I did it a fraction different:

Use a chisel tip on a soldering iron and melt the edges of the plastic lugs that hold the cap to the plate. Replace the seal as shown, I didn't push it fully home so that it sealed a bit further down the shaft on an undamaged section as someone else has recommended. Carefully push the cap back in place and remelt the lugs to fix it back in place - no need for screws.

Any ideas I’ve taken it apart and reassembled about 10 times - filled this to the letter on my 07 4.2 but it still leaks from the same point albeit less. I bought two seals even and took the original out and put two of the new ones stacked still leaks.

Do you put grease on the shaft tried with none and a little bit didn’t make much difference? Do you lightly sand the shaft as mine is covered in brown crap? Any other ideas?

I'd say lightly sand to remove any abrasive crud AND use some rubber grease.

Normal grease will kill the seal unless it's made of nitrile rubber.

I normally use Vaseline on seals would you recommend or not? I’ll give it a go tomorrow eve had enough now lol Current stable:

Cleaned it all out but the is a groove around the base is this normal? I have resort to pu sealant to try and seal the outside of the seal

Ok so I put put glue around the outside of the seal between the casing in case it was leaking there and also the back where the four screws go in up put a bead down and it seems to have cured it Current stable:

Really useful thread.

I’ll throw in my 2p.

I asked the garage to check the rear wiper wash as no fluid was coming out. I got the car back with the motor leaking from where the tube joins it, and possibly from that nipple too. Great. The garage explained that they’d flushed the lines and gunk was probably now in the motor and I’d need a new one. Well done lads. Your Censored up, my bill.

I took it away determined to fix it.

I took everything apart, replaced the washer and reassembled per the instructions on page 1. Relatively easy job, doesn’t need 3+ hands or special tools.

The bloody joint still leaked, and the flow of fluid onto the rear windscreen was patchy. Hmm.

So PTFE’d the plastic that the pipe slides onto and tried again. Leak fixed but still poor flow.

Next: remove the cap on the base of the wiper arm, and run the wash wipe. Good fierce flow.

The culprit was the cap. It took a few minutes with a pin and some flowing hot water to clear whatever was in there blocking the nozzles, but that was, I suspect, the root cause. The blockage built pressure back into the tube causing the weakest link to weep.

So: try a thorough leak of that cap and the nozzles before going further. You still have to remove the roof spoiler but that’s a very easy job. Range Rover 4.2 SC

Excellent advice

Brilliant advice... I took it one stage further and removed the damaged oil seal from the plastic housing (exactly the same size), added another 10mm washer for good measure and then sealed the join between the plastic and metal with Fernox FX plumbers pressure sealant for good measure. No gaps and no leaking... yet.

Has anyone tried this on a MY11 before I start stripping it down? I have the internal leak out of the motor shaft.

It looks like the part number changed to LR010920 for 2009+

Norway 2005 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Adriatic Blue

Does any one know if the same fix can be applied to the headlamp wiper of the pre 2006 model? Seem to have a very similar problem, and washer fluid typically leaking all over the place, though obviously not going inside so less of a problem, but still probably corrodes the mechanism.
