right if you use 1mm squared multicore 70 degree thermoplastic insulated and sheathed cable
you should get a volt drop of 0.35 volts over 20m assuming you are pulling 0.4amps from the charger this should be acceptable as it is less than 4%. on low voltage supplies(up to 1000v) its 3% lighting and 5% other, but to be honest I dont know what volt drop is allowed on an extra low voltage(12v)

What happens when the battery is down a bit and you are pulling 6A on the dc side?

assuming all the other figures are the same then the volt drop would be 5.28v.

Therefore as the max voltage output of the charger and most chargers is 14.4V the supplied voltage to the battery would be 9.12V.
This would mean the battery wouldn't charge.
Back to plan B.

to pull 6amp on a 12v system over 20 metres you would need a csa of 16mm squared Shocked now that would leave a dent in your door seals Laughing

Cut the clips off leaving sufficient length and buy some 4mm "banana" inline plugs and sockets to fit and do the same with the ctek accessories or fit sockets on the charger.
Just an idea Very Happy Geoff

What do you think of the CTEK lead with the battery level display in line? Its got traffic light indicators at to battery health, and then the waterproof plug to plug a CTEK into under the bonnet?

Ive fitted a new battery, and a CTEK easy charging plug with status indicator, connected to the battery with the eyelets its fitted with. I now need one of the CTEK male plugs that go into the female charging port, any ideas where I can get one? Apart from with a CTEK charger?

Cheers in advance

I have wired one into my car with a cheap lawnmower type plug on the mains power under the bonnet in a dry area, when i want to charge the car or leave for a prolonged period i just connect the mains from my old mover lead with RCD plug under my bonnet and walk away... Simples...

I plan to do the same with the TT Cab for winter storage too...

Craig Thumbs Up

All

I fitted my new battery on Thursday evening, not used the car til this morning (Monday) and when I checked the flashing CTEK indicator light it was red (indicating charge required), surely this cant be right? Or can it?
Used the car for an hour, 20 minutes drive, ticking over for 20 mins then 20 mins back home, parked up, checked the light again and it was flashing amber/yellow (indicating charge recommended), does this sound right guys?

If yes, then I have a pretty serious drain, given its a brand new Bosch 110Ah, 920cca battery Big Cry

Please help Bow down

How exactly have you connected the Ctek to the battery?
Where is the Ctek located?

CTEK is the indicator light thingy, and a charging adapter on the end of it, its connected to the car battery itself with eyelets to the terminals, and coiled up in the battery compartment (theres about 10 inches of cable)
