37 - Refit the airline – 278 viewsThe new strut came with a new connector, but I stuck to the instructions about not removing the connector from the airline and used the existing one. RAVE says to fit this loosely and then tighten once strut in place, but its a right fiddle to get at the nut like this so try to check the position of the airline when it will be in place and tighten before inserting strut.

38 - Strut in place! – 260 viewsThis is fun, you either need arms that are twice as long or a three foot neck to be able to do what is going on :) A bit of blind faith, a few trial runs and it should slot in. Make sure you have a wood block available to support the strut in place, so you can then fit the nuts and tighten up. I used the paper gasket off the original strut.

39 - Rattling back plate fixed also – 257 viewsOn last MOT I got an advisory about rattling brake cover. The three fixing holes had rusted/deteriorated, so I dug out some bonnet washers from an MGB to spread the holes.Refit of other parts for the strut was a straight forward reversal of removal. You may need to jack up the hub, and use a lever on the ARB to refit the drop link. The two big bolts were cleaned and went back easily. All nuts and bolts treated with Copper Ease

41 - ABS Clip and Air Suspension Test – 259 viewsThe new strut didn't come with the little clip. It broke when I tried to remove it from the old one, so again back in my box of bits to find a brake line clip from MG days. Wheel back on, reconnect battery, start engine, lock to lock the steering wheel, wind drivers window down, shut all doors. Should get "some" air in new bag. Switch off engine, remove axle stands lower car with jack, but not all the way. Start engine. Vaboom, air suspension raises car. Remove jack, check for air leaks. That's one side.:)

Disconnect battery
or
remove fuse 57

1. Gently release pressure on drivers side (UK/RHD)
2. gently release pressure on passenger side (UK/RHD)

43 - Pasenger Side Removal – 250 viewsThis was much more straight forward (it's only always difficult the first time!) Fortunately neither of the big bolts was seized. I had the strut out inside three quarters of an hour from start. I won't go step by step on this one, just highlights.

44 - Passenger Side Turret – 244 viewsIn better nick than the drivers side, but will get the Kurust and Hammerite treatment anyway. They didn't get the red paint up here? Note paper gasket in place, was stuck up there good and proper so left it there. Also note airline on this side is black.
