Here we go, just had the errors read:-

DTC 08. High Pressure Drain Valve
DTC. 18. Supply High Pressure Drain Valve
DTC. 07. Drain Valve

Accumulator Pressure. 810 kPa
Drain Valve Closed
Accumulator Valve Closed
High Pressure Drain Valve Closed
Sensor voltage. FL- 3.6V
FR- 3.6V
RL- 0.9V
LR- 0.9V

I reset the error codes and then tried all sorts of ways to raise the suspension with no movement but the error codes didn't reproduce themselves.

Tried raising the car with computer but no movement. 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.

Cheers Jeff.

It will be interesting to hear what the forum thinks about the fault codes. My thought would be that the compressor runs for a wee while until the reservoir is full and then turns off and this is correct. But no movement in the suspension so is there a valve stuck closed?? Why is there no fault codes raised after I cleared them? Maybe the fact of only 8 bar in the reservoir isn't enough pressure to raise the suspension?

After servicing the compressor I thought all was good so selected access mode, car lowered but then wouldn't rise back. After I disconnected the air line coming from the compressor the car seemed to lower the back end again. The car is now stuck in this position, low all round but lower at the back. 30 miles to the local Landrover garage unfortunately. 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.

Sensor voltage seems equal and right according to your description
the beast can not pump enough pressure to lift
you said she was ok and you did lower her and she maintains the height now
so i suspect there is no leaks in the system

I did not change my mind (give compressor another look
maybe you resembled something wrongly) Whistle

I still think you may well be right, I'm just gathering as much info as possible. I'm sure there isn't a leak but feeling confused there isn't any outright error code and delaying the decision to pay for the new compressor. Whistle 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.

Sorry paulhh, benn out all day, from your post it sounded like the compressor was running for a few seconds then shutting off, I meant try running it without the control of the EAS module by feeding it 12v, see what it does. If it shuts off quickly, it must be the electric motor of the pump giving up, yes?

No the ecu shuts it down couse id does not meet it expectations

Pressures, load on the motor , sticking valves etc

Hi Paneldamage, I'll maybe give that a quick go tomorrow. Although i think adigorn is right. Everything is pointing to a knackered compressor I guess, I have never heard of the faults listed, I.e. drain valve, so I was thinking that the reservoir was full but I'm no longer sure about it. 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.

Just stripped the compressor again to check piston ring. When I disconnected it from the car there was quite a bit of pressure in the pipe, makes me think the compressor is fine.

Before removing the compressor the Car is still low all round (access mode) not at correct driving height, orange light is on at the driving level, not flashing and there are no errors??? Compressor starts and stops on starting so reservoir must be full but no height change???

Looks like I'll have to buy the new compressor just to ensure it isn't that, I guess. 2002 Vogue Epsom Green with Ivory Leather.

First we need to find out what the normal system pressure should be for the car to lift. 810 KPa (Edit 8 not 0.8 bar) may not be enough. Or if a valve is closed/sticking, the compressor pumps the bit of the system before the valve to the correct set pressure (assuming that is 810 KPa) and stops as per design but the air is not going to the bags due to the sticking/stuck/closed valve.

So next step should be looking at the valve block, see if you can pry that apart.

Try to get all the info (workshop manual, Rave etc.) on the system and see where the problem could be hiding. There are links to the 2002-2005 and 2006 till 2009 manuals in PDF on the forum/in the Wiki. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

810 kpa is 117psi , I'd suspect that pressure is normal operating pressure for the comp. tbh.

Sorted Very Happy Very Happy

Final diagnosis was this. After installing the new piston ring INCORRECTLY!! seemingly it was upside down so this morning I turned it over (couldn't see any difference, but read it is only one way up).

Accumulator pressure was 810 kPa which is 8.1 Bar by the way.

After turning the ring over:-

Accumulator Pressure increased to 1170 kPa so 11.7 Bar and amazingly the car lifted to the correct position.
I then went to off road height, no problem, back to normal height and then into Access height and then back to normal height, perfect.

Compressor temp went upto around 93 degrees C with all that work which is 17 degrees below max temp.

So all those that said new compressor were correct, my service kit is only a temporary fix and a new compressor will be bought (maybe) soonish.
