I bought EGR emulators before the EGRs failed. The emulators were less that the cost of a single EGR. Mines running very happily with the EGRs disabled. ______________________________

Hi rar110,
What/Who's product did you use to decommission the EGRs? How smoothly did it go.

Cheers.

Gday
It's going well. I was planning to have a look down into the intake manifold after about 5000km to see if the coating of oil and exhaust soot had changed. It certainly didn't looked blocked previously like I've seen on other makes. But it was coated.

It's a plug and play set up. The Anderson like plugs for the EGR are at the top of the motor. The emulators are installed by unplugging the EGR which makes it inactive, and then plugging in the emulator in place of the EGR.

It's sold through a website. Just google Autocode and emulators. ______________________________

It runs a bit quieter and much less black smoke out the back on acceleration. I read that the EGR helps bring the motor up to temp a bit faster. I tend to give it a little more time to warm up before I give it a boot full. And you don't get the EGR cycling noise on shut down. ______________________________

Very tempting for when the RGR's finally throw in the towel.
I wonder of there are any long term issues with doing this? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

My understanding is that, in the UK it will fail an MOT if the EGR's are by-passed or disconnected.

If it was fitted with EGR from the factory, then it has to be present for MoT. Same for DPF and Cats.

However, testers are not allowed to remove covers to do checks - so if it is completely hidden then it is no problem.

My 'other' car Rover 75 has an EGR bypass that is under the engine cover. My MoT garage knows I've fitted it but can't remove the cover to check, so it passes the MoT. This is why people are now supplying/fitting fake Cats rather than simply bypassing them.

So, assuming the MOT tester probably won't even open the bonnet, it's a bit of a moot point then? Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

it is a moot point, however assuming they are plug and play, then you could just plug the EGR back in for the MOT Whistle There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I doubt an inspection would identify what it is if the bonnet was opened. But yes can be put back to factory in a couple of minutes by unplugging the emulators and plugging in the EGRs. ______________________________
