Anyone with access to gtr know what tsb jez000's dealer was referring to? Would like to have the reference to give to my dealer to make sure that the update is applied prior to delivery next week.

I was going to ask that too - be useful for me to cross check with my dealer too.

Very useful would be a list of all TSBs that have been out for MY11 cars.

Many thanks in advance

Tom

Just got back from Farnells Guiseley and the car seems fine, software updated to solve the drain issue which apparently was with the instrumentation cluster not the entertainment system.

It amazes me that Land Rover develop new models and allow previous model known defects to be introduced..Here is the similar issue for instrument cluster drain on Range Rover Sports back in 2009: Rolling Eyes

If you read the bulletin, you'll see the reference to 'Sleep Mode'.

At least you got a decent loan car, I always ended up with the smallest cheapest non LR brand cars they can find. over the years, despite handing over the keys to my very expensive prestige cars I've been handed the keys to the following:

Mini One
BMW 116
Volvo S40
Freelander 1
Freelander 2
Ford Fiesta (My dad just got one of these as a loan car too)

Not once have I been given a Discovery, RRS or a FFRR (since LR ownership) or a comparitive model in other brands.

Cheapskate Censored !

If I'd just spent £70K though I'd want something decent,

I've had similar crap cars when taking in my RRS.....got a manual volvo that was shameful, I had an Audi R8 as well and was given an A3 courtesy car, didn't expect an R8 courtesy car but an A5 would have been nice!!

and the joy continues Big Cry I ran the pre heater this morning to see if everything was ok but it only ran for about 15 mins and then stopped due to low battery, (the dash was displaying "low battery - please start the car") it car started fine but clearly something is still not right if there is not enough power to run the FBH. I would be storming!

to be honest though I have also had these issues, it doesn't seem to matter whether they are petrol or diesel, certain cars have a battery drain problem, and the FBH just tips it over the edge of no return with the diesel models quicker, some petrols also have the same issue - it just takes them a little longer to get there as they don't have the FBH.

LR are Censored idiots - after 9 years in production and they still can't get it right! the only thing they can get right is plssing of a customer with a brand new £70k motor!

I think we can all agree on that , It staggers me to think that the Stealer can stand in front of someone and say that a battery that has been drained well below flat is still good to go . 2008 MY Supercharged

Quick update - I left the RR for 24 hours to replicate last weeks condition to see if the drain is still there and it started fine, no messages so it would appear the software update has taken care of the drain.
I'm going to monitor it this week and run the FBH to see if the battery is up to it.
Lookers have been great and have offered to take care of it if the problem comes back Thumbs Up 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

thats good news re the starting but its been fairly warm so the battery hasnt got much to do ..come the time when you need the range to start on a cold morning it will let you down...you've paid a lot of money for this car and i would insist on a brand new battery cos you will always have that niggle in the back of your mind if you dont.. ... - .- -.

I ran the pre heater on mine for the first time today, exact same problem! Gerry

one other aspect you need to be aware of, the FBH and other ancillories (heated screens, heated seats , A/C, lights) use up a significant amount of juice.

even a 70 or 80 amp alternator won't replace the lost power eaten by a FBH and others in a short 15 / 20 minute journey - and thats assuming the battery is 100% and 100% fully charged, which most aren't.

There is a wealth of info on the net re battery charging times. But to give a rough rule of thumb a 70 ah alternator will take at least 2 hours to recharge a fully flat 110 amp battery - assuming there are no other drains on the system for ancillories.

simple maths gives 110 divide by 70 = 1.57 hours plus amps lost charging the system and other power absorption... gives a very rough idea of how much of a journey is needed to charge a battery fully.

The upshot is you need a good and fully charged battery and a reasonable journey length to put the power back into the battery.
