thats good news re the starting but its been fairly warm so the battery hasnt got much to do ..come the time when you need the range to start on a cold morning it will let you down...you've paid a lot of money for this car and i would insist on a brand new battery cos you will always have that niggle in the back of your mind if you dont..

Is this true? have ALL MY11 vehicles reported the same problem?

I know there have been a few....but ALL?

i'm referring to the fact that if you discharge the battery so it reads 3 volts then it will never charge up to full spec...

no idea if all 2011 spec cars have this problem.. ... - .- -.

one other aspect you need to be aware of, the FBH and other ancillories (heated screens, heated seats , A/C, lights) use up a significant amount of juice.

even a 70 or 80 amp alternator won't replace the lost power eaten by a FBH and others in a short 15 / 20 minute journey - and thats assuming the battery is 100% and 100% fully charged, which most aren't.

There is a wealth of info on the net re battery charging times. But to give a rough rule of thumb a 70 ah alternator will take at least 2 hours to recharge a fully flat 110 amp battery - assuming there are no other drains on the system for ancillories.

simple maths gives 110 divide by 70 = 1.57 hours plus amps lost charging the system and other power absorption... gives a very rough idea of how much of a journey is needed to charge a battery fully.

The upshot is you need a good and fully charged battery and a reasonable journey length to put the power back into the battery.

Thanks for the info Vogue Thumbs Up after reading posts on here about battery issues before I picked mine up I was quite cautious about using the FBH but I'm currently doing about 500 miles a week, even the school run is 1 hour round trip twice a day so I'm not doing any short journeys. I would hope the battery would be up to using the heater once or twice a week under those circumstances. 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

and the joy continues Big Cry I ran the pre heater this morning to see if everything was ok but it only ran for about 15 mins and then stopped due to low battery, (the dash was displaying "low battery - please start the car") it car started fine but clearly something is still not right if there is not enough power to run the FBH. Just waiting for a call back from Farnell's now.

I ran the pre heater on mine for the first time today, exact same problem!

Gerry, have you used yours every day since you got it ? the first day I didnt drive it was when the drain became apparent. Just wondering if you have the same issue or my problem could be a one off. 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

The remote controlled interior pre heater yes.
I was supplied with one remote unit, that had no back, just a sticker holding the battery in. Landrover dealer has still failed after all this time to provide a replacement. So I have been using the key set without the heater remote.
Except this morning, for some unknown reason, I decided to pre heat the interior of the car whilst waiting for the kids.

And ten miuntes later, when I unlocked the door and climbed in, the warning was displayed on the TFT screen.

I am quite frankly astonished that LR can supply a new car with a remote unit that had no back and was obviously "Not Fit for Purpose". This combined with the early Battery failures is just not good enough. I would have returned the car and asked for it to be made perfect and "Fit for Purpose" immediately whatever that required even if that was a replacement car.

Gaz, it's not LR I am amazed at - it's the dealership who didn't pick it up at the PDI and do something about it then, even it it was assure the new owner that they had a new remote on order (surely if the car is brand new it will be a warranty claim anyway). I mean how much does the backing piece for a fob cost, if the dealer was a large one then they could at least have taken the cover from another car until the replacement was delivered. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Gary, Tim,
my dealer is a bit crap all round................my fault for buying from them again (too impulsive by far!!)

the key fob has been "on order" from day 1, clearly they keep "forgetting" as how hard can it be to get a new key fob?

whilst i am in "vent" mode, i took it back today to have a new wheel arch liner fitted (they hacked a huge chunk out of it to fit the front mudguard), a new lower glove box door (it falls all the way open and is a two ahnded job to close again due to a deformed catch) and collect the illusive key fob remote (the second time i have made the journey) and was told that the parts were still not in!

I even emailed at end of last week to check the parts would be there!

Shocked

so back again this Thursday, third time lucky???? Gerry

I think I'd be in with the dealership manager / owner for a long 'chat' where we would discuss the compensation, firm timescales to a resolution and to ensure that I was up to date on the situation before formally writing to LR to express my disappointment and the complete failure of one of their representatives!

Could it be time to name and shame. Just your fuel costs for the journeys to them will be becoming a factor now........ 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

sorry to hijack original thread with my whining Wink

I will be having a sit down chat with them on Thursday morning Evil or Very Mad

however, after chasing them for the best part of two years with my first sport in 2006, and totally removing any enjoyment factor from the vehicle, i have decided to not get stressed about this.
I want it dealt with, but want to not get wound up about it. Once I cross that boundary it will just be a mission, and I will go into a downward spiral of anger and misery (am I becoming a bit of a peace loving hippy, or just maturing? Laughing )

the only reason i stayed with LR brand really is because my second sport (from James at LPR) totally altered my perception of how things could be.
Unfortunately LPR could not assist me this time, I approached them out of preference. that being said I did not expect things to be quite so Censored with my local dealer second time around (new owners of dealership, more mature product than the first sport models).

that being said, I am making a point of keeping an email chain to back up all discussions..................just in case.

As for naming and shaming, all that info exists on the RRS board. Although now they are known as "lancaster Land rover", not "pilling" Whistle Gerry

2011 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Santorini Black

Have had my my11 autobiography back at stealership for 3 days. Really enjoying driving the freelander (aka 3grander) courtesy car.....
Dvd system was faulty, no tv in rear or dvd play in front.
Foam pads inside bonnet had detatched and were impeding opening of front doors.
Rear dvd remote did not clip in to cradle.
And the battery issue........

Due to get it back tomorrow all fixed up......let's see.

Latest on battery fault.

LandRover have:
Replaced the battery with a Gel type battery rather than liquid.
Upgraded the BMM ( Battery Monitoring Module).
Software update to Pre Heater, running time is reduced to 10mins.
Software update to Bluetooth, stayed live when vehicle was locked.

Insist the above is caried out.

Good luck
