Set off for work this morning and got about 30 miles when suddenly starting getting a loud screeching noise from drivers side front suspension. Only happens when I accelerate, when at cruise/braking/very gentle acceleration it goes. Harder you accelerate, the worse the noise gets. Only happens under load, you can rev the engine at standstill and its fine.

Have just got back home after a very careful drive, and whizzed the wheel off. Nothing obvious to see, brakes aren't binding or unduly hot. No messages on dash.

I grabbed my Iphone and made a quick vid on the way home as I thought it would be useful to get some advice. Its uploading on Youtube now so I'll add a link when its finished.

Tried searching but nothing obvious, anyone had anything similar happen? Debating whether to take it to local 4x4 Indy or Land Rover dealer in Shrewsbury, but they are 40 minutes drive away plus there is the cost factor! If I know what it could be I'd rather let the Indy do it (or do it myself if practical). Help!!!  Lloyd Barnes

sticking brake caliper?..is the wheel hot after a run. ... - .- -.

Sounds like a belt or a bearing away in the engine compartment. I take it the same noise happens wether you are doing 20 or 60 and accelerating? Previously..

Checked the brake caliper and no signs of it binding, brakes discs warm but not hot after a run. Yes, its not speed dependant, but load on the engine.

I've just popped it down to a local garage in the village where I know the owner. He's saying take it to LR dealer but one thing we noticed is that one of the injectors is leaking diesel. Not sure if its related. Lloyd Barnes

injector leaking diesel onto one of the belts maybe. ... - .- -.

Sounds like a belt noise to me, if you have an injector spraying diesel around the engine compartment it could have got onto one of the belts - everything is quite tightly packaged on the TDV8

I've stuck my head back under, the fuel seems mainly to be leaking down and backwards, I don't think its getting to the belts although its hard to tell there's so much gubbins under there!

I'm going to bite the bullet and call the local LR dealer and get it booked in. I'll let you know how I get on. Lloyd Barnes

Have you looked at your turbo hoses for damage or loose clips?

Well the LR dealer can't even see it until Friday so I'm taking it in my garage and taking it apart. It will probably never work again!  Lloyd Barnes

If something can't be fixed with a hammer....... You have yourself an electrical fault!

No obvious signs of damage to hoses, although its not easy to be 100% sure lying on your back.

It does seem strange it would suddenly start leaking diesel at exactly the same time the noise appears. However it seems nigh on impossible to get to the injectors. There's a metal cover plate over them which I've unbolted but I don't think is coming off without removing what looks like the anti lock brake control?

Belts seem tight enough. Now I know why I love old cars so much! Simple beasties to get to and fix when they break! Lloyd Barnes

Sounds more like an idler pulley or bearing somewhere to me ?

Could it be tranny related, maybe a bearing in the tc, or if it sounds like its coming from the front maybe something in the front diff. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
