MY2007 AFS has Xenons or Bi-Xenons?

Hi All,

I have a 2007 Supercharged with the Adaptive Lighting System (think it was standard?). After looking at peoples LED bulb upgrades I was thinking of upgrading my High Beams to LEDs for using as DRLS (obviously on reduced power!). However this has me thinking, aren't these supposed to be Bi-xenons or are they just Xenons with Halogen main beams?

They are bi-Xenons and you also have the standard halogen high beam. The Xenon globe has a shutter which lifts when on high beam to give a raised spread of light. Try disconnecting the halogen part and I doubt you'll notice any difference. It only seems to be there for the pass light function.

Standard xenons don't have the shutter. you can easily see the difference if you shine them on a garage door/wall or something similar so you can see the various beam patterns.

leds in main beams and using them as drl's is something i did , but opted for the fogs as drls in the end..you cant have leds on reduced power ,they are either on or off...
you can stick with halogens and use the IIDTool to give you 60% or 40% drl power and this will allow you to still use them for flashing.. ... - .- -.

Can you do low-power fogs for DRLs? There's nothing worse than someone with their full-power fogs on when it's not foggy (not to mention it's also illegal if visibility is over 100ft).

Look, you have a REALLY nice motore with the 07 S/C so, c'mon. I mean, really not sure why you'd want DRLs?? They look poo on anything except a Volvo. Just more chavvy, shiny, Magpie, pikey junk which add up to the general look of having covered the car in superglue about 10 seconds prior to driving through Hellfrauds.

If you had a copy of the Mona Lisa, would you cover it in glue and glitter? QED!

.... All IMHO you understand. Whistle

All I want is subtle factory looking drls (like dimmed main-beams) so that the nutcases in Leeds see me coming. You'd be amazed how many people still cut up a FFRR and claim they didn't see you.

Also I may have some contracts coming up in Norway / Sweden so I thought having DRLs would be handy. Smile

mr PIE, if you get an IIDTool then you can switch the main beam drls on/off when ever you want so you can experiment to see if you like them or not.. ... - .- -.
