Body Control Module

Tonight has been a productive night. I received my replacement BCM so I had a go at fitting it myself, with the help of rave it was straight forward.

The problem I have had is that since owning the car from last year e central locking has never worked. I tried everything, I programmed the key countless times for it to work for about an hour then forget the key again - very frustrating! I had Storey look at the string code and he couldn't find any errors so I bit the bullet and bought a replacement from eBay.

I was worried at first about fitting it because the model was an earlier version (920 instead of 921) but all seems fine and so far so good. Central locking working as it should for a change - we'll see if it's the same result in the morning. Very Happy

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Orkney Grey

hope you don't mind me jumping in here, but i think this may be relevant to what i want to say...

i took my FFRR to the dealer earlier this year for its service and i wanted the lazy locking turning on. they said they couldn't do it??? why a main dealer can't do this i have no idea!!

anyway L/R technical told them that they would have to use the BCU from an older FFRR, program it and then refit my original one and things would be ok!!

this all sounds a bit funny to me, i have called them a couple of times and they say that until they get one (an older FFRR that is) in stock they can't do this job. i doubt it very much that they will get one to be honest, so looks like i am stuck.

has anyone ever had any problems like this?

as i said sorry for jumping in on your post but saved a new one. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Well everything is still working as it should be - so it looks as if my problem has been resolved.

Stu.... I did read somewhere about if you plug in another bcm that has a higher mileage then that mileage will show on your vehicle and when you swap back to the bcm with a lower mileage it will still read as a higher mileage - whether that is true I'm not sure. I would seek a second opinion from another L/R dealer and ask them if you can get the lazy locking turning on.
